I get it now. Sorry had a Rick Perry moment. You added my comment before I posted so I guess it was not quite a Rick Perry moment. I must have started the quote but did not submit until after you editted your post. Oops!

Okay, someone needs to take this one as their signature.

Also, I'm using "a Rick Perry moment" from now on in place of "brain fart."

I will be glad when it is actually 2012 and the conservatives will no longer be able to say it's not 2012 yet. 2012 is only about 6 or 7 weeks away and the list of "candidates" for the Republicans is very sad. Here is the way I see the list.....

Herman Cain........As soon as those women started turning up he was dead in the water. A 9% plunge in popularity right away.

Ron Paul.....Way too old and not enough charisma.

Mitt Romney.....All he wants is to be President. We've grown really tired of him and now he is a has-been.

Michelle Bachman...You've simply got to be kidding me, right?

Newt Gingrich....Too old, too many skeletons, same old, same old....(emphasis on OLD)

Tim Pawlenty......Who??

John Huntsman.....Now there is a household word on the tip of everyone's tongue....(false)

Sarah Palin.....insert laugh track here...

Rick Perry.....There's not much demand for a candidate with the same views as John C. Calhoun when it comes to States rights and the question of secession. Certifiably nuts. By the way, in answer to the person who said that Perry's position was justified if his State wasn't getting benefits from the Feds, isn't secession considered an act of treason. I believe that can be found in writing somewhere.

To sum up, 2012 is almost here and this is the list. The Republicans are in a world of hurt right now.

Mike Huckabee.....Plays guitar halfway decently...Seems like a guy who would make a very nice neighbor.

There is no question that Barack Obama is much more vulnerable this time but the Republicans have hitched their wagon to the RIGHT and unfortunately for them, it will turn out WRONG on election day. :(

We're do you people find the time to watch all these debates? I didn't even know there was one on last night.

It was on CNBC. I'm thinking their entire viewership has already opined here on the OC.

So you have to be young and have charisma. Isn't that how we got Obama?

Ha I didn't know there was one on until I saw the Perry gaffe linked. Country Music Awards were much better T.V. because of Carrie Underwood alone!

Throw in Lionel Richie performing "dancin on the ceilin" for an audience of good ole boys and you've got yourself a hit!

When did Pawlenty get back in the race? Damn...missed that news.

Palin is running? How's come nobody is reporting this?? They better re-engage the trash-pickers NOW!

Huckabee changed his mind from about 6 months ago? Huh...I'll have to watch his weekend show to get caught up.

I hope to read that Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie is back in the race. First, I gotta find the sources that Swamp Fox is using. They are AMAZING!! :p

Wow, Newt!

http://nation.foxnews.com/newt-gingrich/2011/11/09/gingrich-takes-shot-ows-whos-gonna-pay-park-youre-occupying-if-there-are-no-businesses-making-profit

He gets right to the core with words everyone can clearly understand. If Paul could do this, he'd be the clear front runner. I understand the President needs to be more than a sound-bite generator. He also needs to be able to communicate clearly and succintly with the American people and get them to follow his lead. Reagan was the master at this. It can be done if Paul would give it a try.

Although I must admit Perry, Bachmann and Santorum are getting close to his neighborhood.

Looks like it's Mitt's race to lose. He'll probably even win the Presidency and then do an about-face on all his positions. It'll be like Obama never left, lol.
You've got it reversed. Perry, Bachmann, and Santorum (especially Santorum) are way out in right field. Ron is much closer to the middle.

Dude has conservative views yes, but his governance would likely result in us moving towards the center because of how he believes the country should be legislated. (IE: He personally opposes gay marriage but would not seek a ban on it).

I admire Newt's skill at getting his point across succinctly. It's something I wish I was better at (and so does my boss lol). People often complain about his tone but I think his manner of speaking, in short bold phrases with a hint of anger behind them actually makes his statements more poignant.

I actually kind of feel bad for Rick Perry. The people of Texas, having their own state's particular culture have elected him as governor more than any other person in the history of Texas (and he's an Aggie!). He's just not a good debater. I almost think he would have had a better shot if he would have just eschewed debating like he did when he ran against Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

Rest assured it was the first time 2 black guys have ever shared the stage at the CMAs. ;)

And agreed...Carrie looked particularly tasty last night.

At last night's debate, Jim Cramer, in his sweaty, too-close-at-the-party way, asked Ron Paul the following question:

I'm on the frontlines of the stock market. We were down 400 points today. We're not going to be done going down if this keeps going on, if Italy keeps -- the rates keep going up. Surely you must recognize that this is a moment-to-moment situation for people who have 401(k)s and IRAs on the line and you wouldn't just let it fail, just go away and take our banking system with it?

Paul, totally unruffled by the "gotcha" question, answered directly from his convictions.

No, you have to let it -- you have to let it liquidate. We've had -- we took 40 years to build up this worldwide debt. We're in a debt crisis never seen before in our history. The sovereign debt of this world is equal to the GDP, as ours is in this country. If you prop it up, you'll do exactly what we did in the depression, prolong the agony. If you do -- if you prop it up, you do what Japan has done for 20 years...

Of course this answer terrifies everyone. How can we not use the government to support home-ownership? How can we let banks take losses on their bad business decisions?

Any other politicians would be terrified of scaring the big banks, or worse, scaring Big-Homeowner - the millions of people who live in the suburbs and vote. Not Paul. You could never say Paul isn't faithful to his convictions.

And many conservatives believe in their hearts that Paul is right. Government is underwriting an unsustainable American lifestyle.

Paul doesn't sugar-coat his answers. He doesn't state them in a way most calculated to appeal to his audience. He states them without artifice.

And this is why his devoted core of supporters are unlikely to go to any other candidate. They find this quality totally refreshing, and energizing. Paul is different from every other politician they've seen.

Sure, if it becomes clear he can't win the nomination- sure they will be less enthusiastic about going to the polls. As long as he is in the race, Paul will get votes.

This quality of his is also why he doesn't attract more support in the Republican party. Voters like to be flattered. The media criticizes candidates for what they call "pandering." But voters want pandering. That is how they determine whether a candidate even understands their concerns.

Paul's brand of honesty may be too stringent for the American electorate now. But he is building a movement that will shape the Republican party and American politics for years to come. He's accomplished more in four years than anyone thought possible. It may not add up to a primary win. But it is a triumph.

Yeah, he stepped in it, as he acknowledged.

Funny, when Barry talks incoherently without his teleprompter, he gets a pass. Maybe Rick should have used ummm....uhhhh...well.....mmmm.....hmmm...ahem.....uh..uh..uh..uh...ummm... Then he would have been OK.

Rick Perry had zero chance of getting the nom before last night, his gaffe doesn't matter.

The nominee will be Romney, there is virtually zero doubt about that.

Have a sense of humor and comprehend the point. And by the way Obama is the current president.
