Add in the TARP bailout and it covers everything I claimed. GE is primed to get all kinds of green contracts as payback for its "cheerleading" of Obama and his policies. Simply put it will be the 20ish percent who are truly liberal and the other percentage will be the political idiots like a few of my friends who have no clue what is going on but know that their parents or grandparents were democrats and that they were told that they were better than Republicans. Every person that I know who is independent already has it set in their mind that they won't be voting for him. Obviously that is just in my corner of the world but I think it will be a good representative of the whole.

If I had voted for Obama based on what he SAID he was going to do -- I wouldn't vote for him again because he didn't do hardly any of those things. And what he did try, seemed to fail.

How about stop questioning me? As an ex-pat we have a foreign exclusion of about $180K, anything above that you can and WILL pay taxes. We weren't about to pack up and move 10,000 miles away to not take jobs that paid less than that. We don't flip hamburgers (I can understand the confusion since that appears to be the only job available in the Obamaconomy back home) It isn't an obscene amount of money - our freaking rent is $6,500/month. We don't work for the peace corps, we're true ex-pats, and we aren't here for a a few months until we find ourselves, this is our home for the next 5-10 years, so I think I know a bit more about our tax liability than you do.

Thank you. I know the tax laws regarding ex-pats and I figured if you were paying taxes you were making a boatload. Most of the ex-pats I know don't pay for housing either. Maybe they have better employers than you do, who knows? I understand you're away from home for years at a time, but the financial benefits are awesome, with expense accounts, health care coverage and all. Now I see why you don't want those Bush-era tax cuts revoked.

As far as not questioning you, keep in mind that you brought it up first. That makes you fair game in my book. I made a boatload in company stock while I was active with my company and you'll never hear me bitch about having a lot of money or being questioned about what I make public. I suppose I should be a right-wing conservative like you, but I feel that those of us who have done well owe a little something to those less fortunate. Well that's because it was fucking stupid. I don't care if Bush or Obama plays golf in their downtime, which they do get and need because they are people even as president. I think Bush stopping golfing was dumb but also not a very good reason to "skewer" him especially when there were plenty of real reasons for that (notice I use that same argument for Obama, consistency ftw).

You don't know dick. What's compassion is working our asses off so others don't have to. In the last 90 days my wife and I spent 26 nights together. This is the life that we chose, and we took the opportunity that presented itself. I'm not apologizing nor am I being lenient on the late-term abortion that is the U.S. economy right now. If we have a $26 drink at Raffles or enjoy a weekend in Bali - we've put in our time, which is more than I can say for the POTUS who has had everything handed to him, and the U.S. is suffering.

Well I didn't vote for Obama but I seem to be "defending" him on here as much as anyone.

I never expected Obama to be the GOAT president or any of that nonsense. But I also didn't and don't prescribe to the worst of all time that many on the right seem to believe. As of right now I don't see a Republican candidate that I like so I probably would vote for Obama. Hopefully there comes a candidate that I like better because while I haven't liked a Republican candidate yet I also don't really enjoy having to vote for Obama who I think hasn't done a very good job on a number of fronts I consider important (Net Neutrality/telecom policy, banking regulation, wars, cohesive and well planned energy policy that drives us towards "green" energies while at the same time not overtly punishing important industries, etc).

I will vote for anyone with a pulse over Obama. He clearly doesn't have the answers so someone else gets a shot. Sure, in theory the Repub candidate could be worse but that still doesn't make Obama any better for the job - I'd settle for someone equally unqualified without the crushing liberal agenda. People need to pay more attention to the Senate and House races and get some good people in there since we seem to have mostly bozos to choose from for POTUS.
