As I've said before, Gilbert should be ashamed of himself for not having a Plan B but Lebron did him no favors with his dog & pony show and subsequent bolting from the city.
Right, how he and Shaq handled it were different. But that doesn't make Shaq any less of a "follower" than Lebron. But I for one don't necessarily think it would have been better for Lebron to tell Cleveland ahead of time that he was leaving (but he definitely shouldn't have done the decision either, that was dumb). He would have said "hey, I'm going to Miami. You can either trade me there or I'll leave as a free agent". And then the Cavs would have either rode him out for the last season that would have surely been filled with all kinds of drama, even more than what we saw with the playoff collapse, or they would have traded Lebron to the Heat for some turd sandwich consisting of picks and Michael Beasley. It was lose-lose for Lebron, he was going to be hated and leave on bad terms either way. It's looking like its going to work out for him though.
