My reasoning is simple: too much is on the line. Let the weather conditions be a non-factor. Any other game -- even playoff games at seeded campus sites -- can be outside, if they ever go to a playoff. But the title game should be in a dome.

I've never understood the reasoning of it being too big of a game that the weather shouldn't be a factor. This is a conference that plays all of it's games outside where weather is a factor, so why should this game be any different? Besides, both teams are laying on the same field in the same conditions, so both are affected equally. Weather is a part of sports that are played outdoors. I do agree that Chicago would be a poor choice that time of year though. I lived there for 5 years and there are days in the winter where the wind is so bad in that stadium that it is almost unplayable.
