Staying together is not always the best option. I'd say this woman is pretty pathetic and I wouldn't want her raising my children. She obviously is a moral sinkhole... why would I want her to have influence over my offspring if I was the husband. There is no doubt he'd get full custody if he wanted it.

The jobs of military men (and women) are hard. But they sure aren't the best at selecting women. This isn't the first time I seen an army guy with a controversial woman as his wife.

Probably because a lot of them meet someone and move really quickly to get married because they are leaving soon. Also why divorce rates in the military are extremely high.

That and many spend so much time apart that it just changes alot of stuff. Couple that with the military being so young and you have alot of people who just dont know what it truly means yet.

Locally a guy got deployed and his wife moved in with some other guy all along talking to her husband as all was fine.

and I think she wiped him out financially too.

There IS doubt. Not sure how it is in Texas, but in Ohio adultery doesn't mean two shits in a custody dispute. Also, it'd be hard for the father to raise the kids by himself from Afghanistan (or wherever). It may not be as easy for him as we might like to think.

You can't be serious... this isn't just adultery but a CRIME. And she will probably be tagged a sex offender. There is no doubt he'd get custody if he wanted to.

Yeah, if it were run of the mill adultery it wouldn't mean shit. I doubt sex offenders have much of a standing when it comes to custody.

There was another article about this incident...it said that the kids had already graduated.

If that's the case, then there really shouldn't be that much of a problem. They aren't students anymore. If they were 18+ (or whatever age of consent is in Texas) then there is no crime.

It also says that 4 of the boys were football players with DI dreams.

I will piggyback (:)) with whoever said it, the father/husband is an IDIOT for standing by her. Could you imagine the problems those kids are going to have when they find out their mom is in the news for banging her high school student while their dad was deployed? I don't know the ages of the kids, but they should kick their mom to the curb for that.

Wait, I read the article wrong...I missed a word in the sentence.

It read, "She pointed out that had the sex acts occurred a few weeks later, after graduation, they would not have been regarded as a crime."

I read it thinking that they occurred after graduation and they should not be regarded as a crime. I didn't read the "had" in the firs part of the sentence.

One of the parents of the boys doesn't want to press any charges. She wants her boys name removed so he doesn't go through any more problems in life. It definitely is a tough call from a parental point of view.

Ah, Ok.

Gotta wonder if that was the first tiime though. I could def see it happening like she was banging one of the students and they decided to bring more into the mix down the road. Who knows.....

I still woulda did her tho

I get that, but they were all adults and it wasn't rape. A lot of criminals, even sex offenders have custody of their children. Maybe you're right, I just don't think they'd walk in the door and have a judge say, "oh, sex offender, sorry you lose your kids" without hearing and even considering the actual facts. And I'm not defending her, I'm just saying my personal opinion is that it isn't as cut and dry as you might hope - life is rarely that easy.

Don't know the guy, but it is easy to assume he's a victim and paint the whole situation terrible with just the surface facts. Maybe he's standing by her because he doesn't care who she bangs? Maybe he bangs other people. Maybe they bang other people together.

I definitely feel for the guy if he got played and publically humiliated for all the same reasons everyone else does. But maybe he doesn't see it that way and maybe they have a lifestyle that makes his perception and our initial perception much, much different.

If it was my 18 Y/O kid I would punish him for being a dumbass (by getting caught and everyone finding out). I wouldn't want to press charges either.

Prosecution says that she could end up serving 5-10.

Perhaps as early as this weekend.

I know all about military adultery. I was raised an Air Force brat (my dad served for 20 years). The thing you have to know about our service men and women (especially the guys) is that a lot of them married their high school sweetheart at 18-19 years of age who they either knocked up their senior year, or shortly there after. If they didn't go that route, they married the girl who was willing to go down on them in the men's room at the NCO Club. Either way, the serviceman was immature and they hooked up with a "loose" girl

The other factor to consider is that people in the military get very lonely--- particularly when the spouse is deployed and if the whole family is moved far away from their family (as is often the case). During my senior and junior years of high school, I lived on a Air Force base in England. The young airmen's wives literally would go to our high school hangouts, parties, etc. in attempts to hook up. Looking back on it, they were just children themselves. Many of these girls were just a few years older than we were at the time. If you gave these girls any amount of attention, (pretend to) listen to their problems, they would make a young teen's fantasy come true.

Now to be an equal opportunity basher here, the young guys in the military hooked up with the female high schoolers much more than the women. Some of the skankier girls in our schools literally lived in the enlisted barracks (dorms in the air force) and go to the NCO clubs for hook ups as well. A lot of girls I went to HS with ended up marrying some guy they met either in HS or shortly thereafter.

This. Separation is brutal for young married couples under the best of conditions - and military service is far from the best.

I'm still good friends with an ex-brother-in-law who divorced SIL#5 (yes, Gardens35 - it was Muggsy) who was a Information Systems specialist in the Air Force. When they shipped him off to Korea from Davis-Monthan AFB for his year of off-shore duty, they told the group that one-fourth of their spouses would leave/divorce them during the coming year to take up with someone else.
