People need to stop assuming that prospect comparisons mean they're going to turn into that player. You compare how a guy plays to the style that another guy in the league plays--and the stars are in the forefront of everyones mind. I don't believe he said he's going to be the next Tim Duncan, just that he plays that style. In other words, a fundamentally sound, well rounded big man. And lets be honest, how many of those have come into the league since Duncan?

He said he reminded him of a less athletic BJ Mullins the way he moves and can shoot the ball. I said a less athletic BJ Mullins? That isnt anyone I would want, nor does anyone else in the NBA.

Kind of like how Kyrie Irving compares to Chris Paul. If Irving turns out to be 85% the player Paul is I'll be extremely happy.

Exactly. It's just a way to compare someones abilities to someone that most people can relate to. It doesn't mean they're going to be as good or better than that player--they just play the game the same way and have the same skill set. You can have the same skill set as Duncan and be a 2 to his 10 on a scale of how well you've honed those skills.

He did have a nice array of dunks against air. Very similar to arguably the top PF in NBA history.

Kanter did dominate in an AAU game playing against Sullinger...Sully had good numbers as well, but I think Kanter put up like 30 and 10. I like Kanter, especially his turkishness.

Huge,Huge mistake is the Cavs take Irving No.1

I would much rather have Kemba Walker

Gilbert will set the franchise back even further if he takes Kyrie Irving

Well you're one of the only people who thinks that, so I think you better offer an explanation.

Its Gibby, you really want an explanation from him? Might as well ask him to explain Tebow or argue with you about LBJ. Its useless.

Irving has been injury prone going back to HS...

He only played a month of his only season in College

Meanwhile,Kemba Walker was on the court pretty much every night and was considered by many the best player in College Basketball

If the Cavs take Irving,it will blow up in there faces just like the Oden pick did to Portland

He was only considered the best after Irving went down with injury. And LOL @ your Oden comparison. He doesn't have health issues like Oden, not even close. Most have said the toe is no big deal. Oden has legitimate joint problems, likely because he grew too fast. I'll take the word of doctors who have looked at the kid and say he's good to go.

Lol at taking Walker with the #1 pick, THAT would blow up in their face when into the second season he's a bench player playing 20 min a night because he gets abused on the def side of the ball.

Irving had injury problems in HS????

Ill also take the word of his HS coach, Bobby Hurley, who said (when Irving was a SO in HS) that "Kyrie will be the best guard to ever come out of New Jersey. In the end, it wont be close."

Now go back and think of the players who have come out of New Jersey. Thats some damn high praise, and thus far, 3 years later, Kyrie hasnt fallen short of that praise.

Did I say take Kemba with the first pick? No

My thinking was they should take Derrick Willams No.1 then take Kemba No.4

Umm Oden had to have fucking micro fracture surgery then broke his kneecap. How does that compare to Irving, a POINT GUARD's, toe injury?

Yeah and Dwayne "Pearl" Washington was called the next Earl Monroe by his HS Coach...Point? HS Coaches are not always very good at predictions.

They carry a bit of weight when the coach is considered the best PG out of NJ (with apologies to Mr. Barry).

Oden is 7 foot tall. He has an entirely different list of health problems and potential health problems than any point guard would have. Oden has been unfortunate, freak injuries, things doctors can't predict. But I'll guarantee you even before his injuries that doctors would have told teams to be more worried about him physically than a PG. It's not as if big men haven't been injury prone in the past, far more than guards.

I thought I heard something about Kyrie's injury being the first time he's had to deal with a serious injury; and it was a freak injury at that.
