I don't speak "Campbell"
What the hell does that mean?

rmolin73;773608 wrote:Seriously dude? Stop calling people out be the bigger man. The bottom line is this there are small school programs that compete with private schools and beat them. The team you are calling a juggernaut has lost to Coldwater twice. Ursuline got out muscled by Maria Stein when they beat Ursuline in 2007. Hardin Northern won the 2004 D6 State Title game beating two catholic schools in the process with 26 boys, 26 boys outscored their opponents 31.2 to 5.6 points in the playoffs thats it 26 boys! There are teams that can get it done and beat privates and there are also supporters of teams that whine and cry and ask for an easy road to a state title.

sherm03;774232 wrote:Let's call a spade a spade...the OHSAA is looking to make changes because of about 7 or 8 schools. They are upset that Delphos St. John, Ursuline, Mooney, Alter, and a few D1 schools consistently do well. To hide behind this "all parochial schools have an advantage" guise is just dumb in my opinion. The whole proposal was meant to move the tough parochial schools out of the lower divisions and into the higher divisions to open it up for a lesser team to have a better shot at a state championship. Enough people complained about it that the OHSAA finally had to step in and propose something.
But the people that tell me that all parochial schools have this great advantage loses all credibility in my book. Nobody is afraid of St. Thomas Aquinas, or Youngstown Christian. They are afraid of Mooney and Ursuline. I would have more respect if people at least said what they were really thinking: "I don't want to have to play Mooney or Ursuline, so I'd like to see them moved out of my division." But instead, people continue to play this pity card, and it's just ridiculous.

But the public schools in those upper divisions realized they didn't want to play Mooney, Ursuline, Coldwater, Maria Stein, etc. (you know the teams that actually win titles). So they stuck it to the schools like Campbell and Massillon and voted the proposal down. Damn public schools.sherm03;774232 wrote:Let's call a spade a spade. Green=maybe they would be more equal, (instead of "lesser"), if the parochs didn't have tri state all star teams, and they wouldn't need help to have a, "better shot at a state championship."
Blue= Pity card? You have got to be kidding me. You parochial boys are the ones who are acting like you want pity.

It isn't only private schools that excel that parents look to send their kids too. Parents also look for public schools which excel. What is wrong with schools that excel?Bigdogg;774916 wrote:it seems to me that private schools have a huge incentive to excel in either academic or sports or both. Bigdogg;774820 wrote:What is fair about assigning divisions based on student populations? College divisions have nothing to do with number of students. It's about level of commitment and financial resources. The current system make no sense, and doesn't reflect the mission of the OHSAA. The number of students walking the halls should only be one factor. It seems funny to me the people who think the system is currently fair are the people that are reaping the rewards.
