Worst and most embarrassing at bat of the year.

And the Reds tv guys continuing to show the bunt and baseline is just ad embarrassing....they lost game 1 to the better team....stop being like the Cardinals.

There goes Phillips trying to be a #4 hitter and hit a HR or pull an outside pitch.

Phillips is a #2 hitter....a very good one at that.

Yes he is. Problem is that we do not have a clean up hitter. Please dont say Rolen either.

If the Reds are worried about the cost of getting rid of Gomes, I will gladly pick up the tab on his remaining salary

It's hard to win games when you have a couple of the easiest outs in baseball. Gomes is the definition of putrid and our SS combo of Renteria and Janish is just sad at the plate. Not to mention we are a NL team and usually have a pitcher hitting. So basically we're playing with 3 dead spots in the order. Fantastic.

Anymore it seems like we win as long as Votto or Phillips does something. If they don't, we're screwed

You don't know the rule. He was in the baseline on that type of play.

Got home and turned the game only to see someone immediately go yard. I take full responsibility for the loss.

The Reds would be winless this week and without runs in Cleveland without opponent pitchers and defenses "gifts". Gomes refuses to try to hit the ball the other way and has no concept of what type of pitch it might be as it flies toward the plate, and just guesses(mostly wrong). You'd think the lucky homer he hit recently that was to the right of 2B would make him think more of the value of going the other way.

Phillips batting 2nd and Rolen or Bruce batting 4th > Gomes batting 2nd and Phillips batting 4th.

The problem starts with Gomes being put into the position of getting the 2nd most at bats.

Phillips has proven ad nauseam that he is better when he hits second... It totally fits what he does best in every way....when he hits 4th...he isn't at his best because he feels added pressure to hit more HR....he's admitted this!

Right now the Reds aren't hitting..if Renteria or Heisey or anyone is hitting well enough to man batting 2nd then it's better able for Phillips to bat 4th...but even then the Reds will be better with Phillips batting 2nd.

The lineup should be made from the top.

The Reds have no actual #4 hitter...Hernandez right now might be the best choice...but without anyone else to bat 2nd worth a shit....Phillips should be there.

I really think the key to this whole series has been the indians scoring more runs than the reds. That usually contributes to the win.
