That is exactly right!

It's not just Mcdonalds but diet is a massive part of our obesitty problem. And one dude not being a fatass after eating a ton of Chez Mcdo doesn't show anything.

But one dude who eats McDonald's for a month means something? Not that I'm a fast food apologist, but if this dude eating 20,000 Big Macs and being in perfect health doesn't mean shit, then Mr. super size me eating and having health problems doesn't mean shit either. Yet, so many watch that movie and boohoo about McDs. Like if people wouldn't eat McDonald's they'd be healthier. We'd still eat shitty food, just somewhere else.

Wouldn't that make it more impressive? I mean, I would think it's easier to eat 25K of something that tastes good than something that tastes "shitty."

25,000 M 'n Ms? Easy. 25,000 rabbit turds? Impressive.
I Wear Pants;771479 wrote:What an idiot.

Yes, he definitely is. It may not always make you fat, but not being fat doesn't mean the same thing as "healthy." Crackheads are not fat, but they're not healthy either.

I don't blame McDonald's one iota for our obesity problem. They are a private enterprise selling people what they want. If people are irresponsible with that, it is not ... at all ... the fault of McDonald's. No different than blaming Budweiser for our alcohol abuse problem.

I DO blame our obesity problem on how major a role McDonald's is in the daily diet of many people, but that is THEIR responsibility, not McDonald's.

Diet is, yes. WE are responsible for our diets. McDonald's is not responsible for any element of our diets.

If we learned to eat more healthily and exercise more, McDonald's could still exist in its current form without being a problem (though it might not make the profits it currently does).

See? Nothing wrong with this, whatsoever.

Our own inability to have self-control and practice moderation is nobody's fault but our own.

That's what people will have you believe about everything. The truth is that everyone is different. My Grandpa has eaten a POUND of bacon almost every morning of his adult life for breakfast, takes the skillet and pours the remaining grease over his bacon and the eggs, and eats it. He just celebrated his 83rd birthday, and his last doctor's visit the doctor told him he has the best cholesterol of any person over 65 he's ever seen. I also have a 72 year old neighbor that's smoked like a chimney AND drinks at least the equivalent of a 12pack of beer every day since my parents have known him (30+ years) and he'll outlive everyone including me. The most major ailment he's had in 30 years my family has known him is knee replacement surgery when he fell about 10 years ago. Never been in the hospital, never found cancer anywhere in/on him, and his doctor told him he has a pretty well-functioning liver for a man his age. Sure eating stuff like this is probably not the best idea for most people, but there's always exceptions. Especially if he eats healthy and gets exercise outside of his daily big mac. Also, if he only eats the sandwich and not fries everyday, that's a huge help. Fast food fries are far worse for you than a lot of people realize.

Agreed with Redskins above. I would bet that the majority of our "health" is based on genetics. Yes eating healthy and exercising will obviously help, but eating a big mac isn't THAT bad for you. It's when you eat a ton of food and don't move all day. My grandpa is 81 and has smoked 2 packs a day since he was 15 or so. Still kicking it. And then at a client a 40 year old woman dropped dead who walks a mile every lunch day and does no drugs or anything.

RSP, I believe the woman who died about 15 years ago, who had been the oldest woman in modern history (like 121 or something) smoked up until she died.

A lot of that stuff is just hard to figure out.

I would submit, as a McDonald's investor, that diminished profits certainly would be a problem.

I'm betting the people over there are smart enough to adapt to a changing culture. They've been doing it for decades.

If it became profitable to be "health conscious," they'd at least do something like Wendy's and have "naturally cut" fries (There is nothing extra natural about the fries themselves ... and what's the alternative to being naturally cut?). They'd either BE more healthy ... or they'd market themselves to APPEAR more healthy.

Either way, they'd be fine. They've had one fiscal year where they weren't profitable (1982, I believe?). They know what they're doing.

Not in 1978 it wasn't. The reason we ate em is cause we had buy one get one coupons. Not sure of the price then and I've never had a mcdouble or heard of it even.

Order a Double Quarter Pounder (or even a Quarter Pounder) dressed as a Big Mac. They'll do it for no extra charge. Better bang for your buck as they're almost the same price.

Actually they will probably charge you like 50 cents. I remember for almost 2 years me and a friend would go to McDs buy double cheeseburgers when they were still a dollar and have them dressed as big macs. One day we go in there and the lady is like that will be 35 cents extra.

I'm totally hoping I turn out to have this guy's health. If not...shit's gonna get real for me at some point.
