it's my understanding that because he lost a bet, he can't post on any thread with Notre Dame in the title--at least I think that's the reason

Yeah he bet it all on Notre Dame going no better than 6-6.
In other words, he's a damn fool. Not that Notre Dame wasn't close to going 6-6, just to be that confident.
