Relax yourself Francis and take your own advice, I made the same mistake earlier this thread.

Everyone fuckin' chill.

Although I hate how college kids are apparently using this as an excuse to party when they probably don't really give a shit.

I'm sure a lot of the kids do care...let them celebrate, for me at least. Not only can I not celebrate (per suggestions by the US embassy) I've had to cancel lunch plans at our club due to heightened security. At least in the U.S. you can celebrate without fear of pissing off people that might not get the celebratoin.

Osama Bin Laden launched the deadliest attack on American soil when I was 12 years old. I was barely old enough to understand why anyone would ever do such a thing. My entire teenage and adult life has been spent in a world where we fear terrorism and for our safety, largely because of the deplorable actions of this monster.

I think (I hope) I speak for most of my generation when I say we truly do give a shit that the most wanted and ruthless man in the world is finally dead.

HQ'ed in Singapore but we travel all over the Pan-Pacific and Middle East (and some parts of Africa and Europe).

Needless to say all the airports are on high alert right now, fortunately neither of us is travelling for another week.

No they don't.

And celebrate what? The death of one guy? As long as each side is celebrating the violence and deaths we're gonna be having this party forever.

The last 10 years...

Where is Osama??

Is he in Afg

Is he in Iran?

Is he in Pakistan?

Is he dead?

Well, turns out he was in the equivelant of a mansion on Long Island NY, geographically compared to NYC....

I'm a college kid..I went out (although i was already out even before this news came about) and most people at the bar were very knowledgeable of the situation. A lot of my friends had military fathers/grandfathers; they called them right away to their fathers/grandfathers' tears. Multiple former military servicemen in the bar; none of them paid a dollar for a drink...they all had tears in their eyes. Tonight was a great night, don't generalize people and make this night tainted.

We killed a guy who killed over 3,000 innocent americans. He changed our lives forever. And we all remember where we were that day and how it affected us. We should be celebrating.
Here at hickam afb there is celebrating too! Heard a few gun shots into the air.

I was just going on the FB statuses of some people I know who don't follow or understand or give a shit about politics or anything that's going on in a world which kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm sure there are plenty who are knowledgeable of the matter that are also celebrating I didn't intend to generalize everyone. And you don't have to be a news hound or anything to be allowed to celebrate or be happy about this. I really was just bothered by the specific people I noticed who were using this as an excuse to get drunk when I know they don't actually give a shit or understand any of it.

So what? Maybe people don't follow politics because it's nothing but a pissing match between two sides who refuse to see any good in the opposite's approach. Maybe they don't follow it because it's nothing but out-of-touch millionaires trying to make the common person believe they have their best interest at heart. But that doesn't mean they can't be happy about and celebrate an event that is sure to shape our country forever.

Why does it matter if they don't care about politics? This isn't about politics. This is about some closure to one of the most trying and exhaustive situations in US history.
