Reds facing Josh Johnson who just gave up his first hit in the 1st 3 innings all season on a single by Votto...opponents are now 1 for 48 off of Johnson in the 1st 3 innings this season..

Volquez gave up a run in the 1st.

Johnson has only allowed 13 hits in his first 5 starts.

Phillips singles Votto to 3rd.

Reds trailing the Cardinals...Cards beat the Braves in the 9th inning earlier today.

Joe West is rough on his consistency on his calls on the outside corner. Votto is one more bad call from getting tossed on his bobble night.

West bails out Volquez with a gimme strike on a 2-0 count

another trip to the mound by Hernandez...painful to watch. It's only 1-0...but Christ it's close to being a no chance game.

A "WOW" play by Hanley Ramirez robbing Hernandez of a hit.

Paul Janish hits one off the top of the wall for a double....but he's got to be a beast after hearing "Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up" as his intro song. I cannot believe that is his song choice...goodness

1-0 after 2....Janish missed tying it by less than a foot of elevation....killed it, but not high enough....he's hit a hard line drive in 4 of his 5 at bats this series.

Gomes treated unfairly again on the called strike on the first pitch, again with two on.

How much longer are we going to keep trotting Gomes out there on a nightly basis? I know he is streaky, but gotta have more than a .190 from a guy hitting in the heart of the order. He's a rally killer.

I swear Heisey must have boned Baker's wife. Not only is the amount of playing time he gets laughable, but the fact that Hermida has been playing more as well.

Looks like this year Hernandez is doing better than Hanigan at throwing stealers out!

Janish in the 2nd, and Hernandez in the 4th, get hits to turnover the line-up, putting Stubbs leading off in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th, and he has not been successful once at getting on!

Ondrusek and Bray do a good job to get zeroes in the 6th and 7th. Bray with a big advantage of the gift called strike one on a pitch that was wide.

Is Johnson done after 7 innings and 117 pitches? He has given up his most hits of the season with 5, but still no runs!

Infante leaves the game with a "cramp"? Isn't that what the Reds back-up 3rd baseman left with a couple weeks ago and he's no where near being able to come back from yet?

Stubbs must have been to the right of 2B to not get to that fly that landed softly in the grass in LCF that drove in the two insurance runs.

Bruce is helpless against Choate and his three well placed sliders on the low outside corner.

Votto toast on a called 3rd strike slider in the same spot. Choate did his job, got out the only left handers in the line-up, back to back, and leaves the game.

Ill advised throw home on Gomes single lets him get to 2B, where he scores on Cairo's single, and the insurance runs are gone! The margin is back to where it was before the first out of the game was even made!

Are the Reds going to tie or take the lead before the closer gets in the game?

Should they have let Choate go ahead and try to get a right hander out?
