I think the time has come for me to kiss my past goodbye and sell my x-box 360. I've played it mildly over the past year or so, and I'm hoping I can take what I get for it and pay for an iPod touch (or a large chunk of the price anyways)

I'm just gonna go ahead and put this out there now: If anyone wants to make an offer, and allow me to save the ebay hassle, please message me. I got the xbox 360 in the fall of 2008 after my previous one had the RROD. Since then, it's actually been through very mild wear and tear. From the beginning of 2009 til about a year ago I lived with a couple other guys and we just used his xbox while mine collected dust. It's white, just the basic one...10gb or whatever. Comes with two controllers (maybe three, I'll have to check before I create the ad obviously)...Gears of War 2, NBA2K11, NCAA football '11, Bioshock, Halo 3...I think that's all. I don't care if you want the games or not, they're coming either way. I don't really have an estimate in mind, so let me know what you think.

NOW, if I take the ebay route, I wanna know how I should approach it. Would you guys just start the bidding at $.01 and let it go for a few days? Or just one day? Would you put a buy it now price on there (if so, what would be an appropriate price??) I guess what I'm most worried is if I just let it become a bidding war, that the final price won't satisfy me. At that point, before the sale goes final, is there a way to just say "no nevermind I'd rather just keep it if I'm only going to get this much for it" and cancel the whole thing?

If anyone's interested I'll go take a closer look at exactly what I have...but the games listed are pretty much it and I definitely have two controllers, maybe three.

Do you have a good reputation built up? I'd start it at .99 cents..its not like its gonna sell at 20 dollars or something, you should get good money out of it. But if you are really concerned with how much you get..set a minimum of the least you are willing to accept.

Set your price around what you want. I'd start it at $100. You can set a reserve price. If it doesnt sell for that price...then u dont sell it. I'd also do a 7 day auction and set a high buy it now price in case there is someone that just cant wait for 7 days. You would be surprised at what people will pay so they dont have to wait or get in a bidding war over.

Screw the iPod touch...save for a little longer and get an iPad.

I disagree with your first and last statement. I've sold many items on Ebay, and you'll do best starting it at $.99. The reason is that the success of Ebay hinges on people getting a deal, or a percieved deal. If someone logs in and sees an Xbox with a starting bid of $100 and 0 bids, they'll click away. If they see one that started at $.99 and is now at $40 with 10 bids, they are more likely to jump on it because $40 is a deal. Once you suck them in, they'll keep bidding.

Just set your reserve for the minimum you are willing to take.

If you know what you want for it, I'd suggest selling it on Craig's List. I can almost guarantee that if you set a reserve, you're going to get some Nigerian Prince offer you the Reserve price and try to get you to ship it to Africa, before you receive the cash!

I'll give you $150 cash for the package and if you're in driving distance of Cleveland, I'll even meet somewhere to pick it up!!

Yes, that's what happen when I tried to sell my iPhone 3G. About an hour before the auction ended, I get an offer to buy it at the reserve price. The guy had an American with an OK rating. Once I tried working with him is when I found out it was a scam. I ended up putting my phone on Craig's List and sold it within 5 minutes of posting.

Don't set a reserve at all. That scares away bidders too. Just comb through completed eBay listings to see the average price of sold consoles. If the average price isn't what you want for it, then don't list it. Don't bother setting a Buy It Now either, especially if you list it at $0.99. As soon as someone bids on it, the BIN will disappear and you will just be out $0.75 for the BIN price.

I've probably sold more...so do what I say. I've had no problems selling them when I set them at $100 or $1..they still sell where I expect them to sell. They aren't going to bid any higher just because you start the auction at $1.

This is about the same route I would take. Do your research, see what the comparable items are going for. Then I would just set the minimum bid at what I wanted to get out of it, assuming it's around the same prices as the others, and wouldn't do a buy it now. It doesn't matter if you set your starting point at $0.99 or $99.99. When there is an hour to go...they will both still be around that price. Also, set it so that the auction ends on Tuesday between Thursday, between 4pm and 6pm. Those seem to be the best ideal times for closing, since that's when Ebay ideally has the most traffic.
