After seeing this, I have to agree with Chris Spielman that it's time for JT to resign--as CS said, "embarrassing THE Ohio State University is not acceptable", and if this isn't embarrassing (in the court of public opinion, at least), then I don't know what is...it's time to move on.

I think the majority of fans want Tressel to step down at this point. I have not personally come across an OSU fan who wants him to remain the head coach.

And I hope the first phone call is to Jon Gruden. At least test the waters with him. I think he would be excellent, but i also think he loves what he is doing at the moment.

I'm an Ohio State fan that wants him to remain as head coach. Unless something else comes to light, I see no reason to get rid of him. Doing so would be caving to the media and public opinion. His transgressions are very minor compared to whats going on elsewhere in college football (Auburn & Oregon essentially paying players to play there).

You think it's time for Tressel to resign, just because of Michigan fans buying a T-Shirt poking fun at Tressel and OSU? Wow, you are thin-skinned. Reading that article, I'm more embarrassed for the Michigan fans who are celebrating this like it's Christmas come early...

I'm not an Ohio State fan and I don't care if they keep him or not, but would firing him be caving to the media and public opinion...or realizing that you haven't handled the situation properly from the beginning and making it right?

A head coach certainly isn't always able to control every interaction between his players and ill-intented thrid parties - Tressel was never expected to do that either. But 1) knowing, 2) involving yourself and 3) deliberately covering it up from your superiors goes WAY beyond a minor transgression for a head coach. He flat out lied to his bosses, several times; there has to be damage to those relationships and doubts as to whether or not he can be trusted to truly protect the interests of the school and the program. There's a reason the NCAA terms this a "major violation".

Ty, for the record, I don't want Coach Tressel fired--but if he were to resign, I wouldn't get all pissy about it...and to answer your question, because I'm not a fan of either LSU or Alabama, of course I wouldn't feel the same way-- I'd want both their asses fired

A wealthy alum is likely not very interested in public opinion. As a group, they tend to do their own thinking and form their own opinions.

WRONG--public perception of a university can influence anyone, wealthy alumni included...opinions are formed by different factors, and you're kidding yourself if you don't think the way others perceive OSU can potentially influence one's opinion.
