BGR gave the droid 3 a terrible review. I am now holding out for a Bionic or a Iphone next gen.

Also, no google turn by turn on the Iphone may be a deal breaker for me, but I am getting to the point where I am getting a lot of "force close" messeges on my droid and some slow ass speed. How do I speed it up? Keep it maintained? I am too lazy to do too much to it. Also a lot of apps that are free on droid you have to pay for with apple. I am still not sure which way to go.

You're holding a mini computer in your pocket. It will get bogged down and slow after awhile, regardless of how you take care of it. iPhones are guilty of this as well.
You could always do a factory restore. It'll be exactly how it was when you bought it.
What phone do you have?

Factory resets on the Original Droid aren't very effective. The problem is, the phone sports a 550mhz processor, and is updated to software designed for much faster processors. You can't just keep putting the new version of Windows on your laptop that you've had for years and expect it to run smoothly. From everything I've heard, the original Droid performs well after it's been rooted. But if you don't want to do that, you have to be close to upgrading. Maybe it's time for a new device.

August 1st is here and finally eligible for an upgrade! any new phones coming out in the near future i should hold out for?

If you can wait another month or so, at least wait to see if you like the Bionic.
If you can't wait, it depends on what is more important to you. Do you want a 4G phone? Go with the Charge. Do you need that keyboard like the original Droid? Go Droid 3 (and buy it now because there aren't any 4G phones with a keyboard I've heard about coming soon). Don't need a keyboard OR 4G? Go X2 or Incredible 2.

Between the charge and Droid 3 I would go charge because of the 4g. However the Droid 3 is probably the nicest 3g phone Verizon has. So if speed is not an issue the Droid 3 is pretty sweet

haha yeah that is the debate. i like the slide out keyboard with the Droid 3, especially the directional arrows which help when trying to select tiny links on webpages, but that seems to be about the only advantage. The Charge has 4G and what seems to be a lot more built in programs etc.

I have the Charge and it's awesome. I will never buy a Motorola phone again after the experience I had with my Droid 2.

The Bionic will be a big step up from the Charge. 4G speeds along with a dual core processor is going to make for a really nice phone.
What exactly are you doing on your phone? Are you doing a lot of video streaming (ala Netflix) and using your device as a mobile hotspot? IMO, those are really the only MAJOR advantages to the 4G speed. Basic web browsing/emailing/etc. on a phone is fine on 3G speeds. The difference pulling up a website like ESPN on the Droid 3 and the Charge is so minimal that it's hardly worth the extra money. But when you fire up a 4G hotspot...it's ridiculously faster than it's 3G counterpart. So it all depends on how you plan to use your phone and what features are more important to you.

I don't believe this at all. If you had an issue with the Droid 2, I'm sure you would have mentioned by now that you hated it and will never buy a Motorola phone again.

Still have my original droid. After every update I feel it getting slower and slower. I've been trying to hold off for the Bionic. If it gets pushed from September I don't know what I'm going to do!

Seriously though... its like night and day between the two. 4G is nice, though i dont use the mobile hotspot as it now costs extra.
