I think Hannahan has been a big reason why we've started out so well. His bat has been solid but his defense has been a major upgrade over last season and it's given our pitcher's confidence that when the other team hits the ball it's going to be fielded cleanly. It's been so nice seeing good defense at third so far this season.

I don't know what I want . I did jump the gun and make a dumb comment before, but like I said for some reason I just don't like him. I don't really want them to bring Chisenhall up too early, and possibly ruin him. I'll just trust management on that one. I wouldn't complain if Santana didn't get a hit for another month. I guess I'm just breaking one of my pet peeves and just finding something to complain about. Maybe I should just be quiet and enjoy this great start.

Manny was just talking about Grady after the game and said he'd hit somewhere between 1-6 but didn't say where. Personally I'd like to see him hit down in the order to ease him back in. Plus Brantley has done a really good job as the lead-off man so far.

The question is, who goes when Grady comes up? It's gonna be Duncan or Buck. Prolly Buck cause of the team already being heavy from the left side. Personally I like Buck's bat. We haven't seen much of it so far, but he can hit.

Who would of thought that the Indians AND the Royals would be tied for first at this point. I guess were not that far into the season though.

Probably Buck because he has options and hasn't really been hitting much this season so far. I liked him in spring training but it hasn't carried over thus far.

Buck has 1 more option. He will go. Even with a healthy Sizemore, I don't like him in the leadoff spot. Probably 6 or 7.

Kearns should go, a hot first half of last year is all he's done in the last 5yrs or so.

Sizemore strikes out too much to lead off. He's never been a pure lead-off hitter. There's no reason to put him there now.

This is an awesome start. Unfortunately, somehow I am being blacked out of my area on mlb.tv, even though I am in NC, so unless Baltimore's viewing area is this far, I don't get it.

The days of a pure leadoff hitter are about over. You want your best players getting the most ABs, if Sizemore can return to form he needs to bat near the top. He probably isn't there yet though. It's not like they have a 40+ HR hitter in the 3 or 4 hole where you need a high OBP in front of him.

A piece by Buster on ESPN Insider about the Cabrera's and what another teams GM said about the Tribes line-up:
Orlando Cabrera started his lobbying early in spring training, Cleveland Indians Manager Manny Acta recalled, after Cabrera watched teammate Asdrubal Cabrera take batting practice for the first time. "Orlando was impressed with his power, and he started talking with him about the mental aspects of hitting," Acta said.

Orlando Cabrera encouraged Asdrubal to look for more opportunities to drive the ball, to look for a pitch in a particular part of the strike zone. Orlando encouraged Asdrubal that he could do more at the plate. "He told him that he could take a bigger swing, look for extra bases," Acta recalled. "Because he's a guy who could hit for more power," Acta said. "And he's been in the middle of everything."

Yes. Cabrera drove in four runs on Friday, which gives him 14 in the Indians' 13 games, and he's got seven extra-base hits in his first 53 at-bats, including four homers. He's never hit more than six in any season, but Asdrubal Cabrera, looks like a different hitter, now that he's 25 -- bigger, stronger. Just as Carlos Guillen matured physically from his first days with the Seattle Mariners and developed into a power hitter, Cabrera seems to be making a transformation.

And he is healthy again, after breaking his forearm last year. "I don't think he was 100 percent healthy last season, and now he's back," Acta said. "This guy is one of the best shortstops in the American League."

The Indians are 9-4, in the aftermath of Justin Masterson's latest masterpiece; he has continued to grow and develop. It's time to climb onto the Indians' bandwagon, writes Bill Livingston.

A rival GM noted this week how many tough outs the Indians have amassed in their lineup, from Michael Brantley to Cabrera to Carlos Santana. "That is not an easy lineup to face," he said.

The best player to lead-off isn't sizemore. His OBP won't be as good as others. If you truly want the best up there then put the best there. It isn't going to be Sizemore. Even without a 40 hr hitter you will give more opportunities to your top RBI men with the best OBP ahead of them. It isn't about one swing over the fence it's about getting guys across the plate.

As much as we've all knocked the front office for the Cliff Lee trade, take a look at some of the others they have made. They have fleeced some of these teams.

Carlos Santana for Casey Blake
Asdrubal for Eduardo Perez (currenty doing gigs for espn)
Brantley and LaPorta for CC (who they weren't gonna sign anyway)
Choo for Ben fucking Broussard
Pronk for Einar Diaz and Ryan Drese
Masterson, Bryan Price, and Nick Hagadone for Victor Martinez (who Boston couldn't even sign)
Chris Perez and Jess Todd for Mark DeRosa

Sizemore has been activated and will bat leadoff today. Talbot put on the 15 day DL. (per Matt Underwood)
