Perhaps more than anything, the notion that Pau Gasol can be this team's next great leader was swept away. His sudden and odd postseason disappearance was the most obvious reason for the Lakers' troubles, his fall completed Sunday when he scored 10 points while being pushed around by everyone but his coach, who thankfully refrained from hitting him for a second consecutive game.
"I have to learn from this," Gasol said. ''I have to learn that when something happens off the court, you have to keep it off the court."
He was referring to the report that he stopped talking to Bryant during the postseason because Bryant's wife, Vanessa, had contributed to the breakup of Gasol and his longtime girlfriend. Lakers fans will remember that Karl Malone once publicly accused Vanessa of interfering with his personal life in a similar fashion.
Whatever was happening, Bryant and Gasol haven't connected on the court in a month, and the Lakers have been lost without the strength of their fusion.
SMH if this is true.

Kobe and Shaq hated each other, yet put that shit aside and won. Crap.

What is Gasol 14? He is blaming losing his GF on Kobe's wife? He let it affect him to the point where he basically quit playing during the NBA Playoffs going for a 3 peat?hoops23;763028 wrote:No, if it's true, Kobe and hid wife are bitches.

No the celtics were terrible for a long time before they were gifted Ray Allen and KG. Look at the Knicks, out of things for 10 seasons.

Exactly. That's what I am saying there chief. (very little parity)
The Celtics and Lakers have dominated the league. Do me a favor and figure up how many championships that the Lakers and Celtics have won and then give me the total number of championships that there have been since the league started. (I'm at work, or I would). The amount is staggering

Celtics historically have won a lot of titles, nothing really recent other than when the big 3 first assembled. Before then it was in the 85. thats a large gap. I'd hardly call them in the thich of things for the 20+ yr gap. They've really benefited from two big runs of rings, hardly consistent in the modern era. http://www.nba.com/celtics/history/ChampionshipWins.html

How exactly are the Lakers and Celtics just gonna magically get players to compete? Pierce Garnett and Allen arent getting any younger, and are almost done(at least done being really effective for a full season) Rondo, Big Baby and Jeff Green are their young pieces? yeah great core.
The lakers have a littttle more to work with, but its not looking great for them. Especially if they blow the team up
Historically theyve been great yes, but that doesnt mean shit now. Its not the MLB where if you're historically good you can just buy everyone out and build a dynasty

The Lakers are not blowing their team up. They can't with the current contracts they have but Bynum is going to be shopped around, I guarantee that.

It's still beyond me why Jordo even posts on a sports forum. smh.

I can't see the Lakers being down for too long. Too much of a "draw" with their history and the SoCal weather.

They won't be. Bryant will be back, and then both Gasol and Bynum have plenty of value. They can easily flip both of those guys.
On top of that, people want to play in LA. It is a free agent destination. Guys want to live in LA. It is a star location. They will be just fine.
