Ump ripped off Janish, who I was expecting to hit a gapper to score Bruce from first, as both the 2nd and 3rd strikes were outside!

Bray kept it in CF like they were talking, but it went too far!

Should have gotten away from the low outside corner and came with a fastball in, or a back-door slider to Hundley, ending up walking him.

Strike 3 to Stubbs on the 3-2 was further outside than ball 1 was!

Brantley said he thought Gomes mis-judged that ball to left by Ludwick. He did, but he was able to still catch it to extend the game at 2-2 and on to the 11th. Can we borrow Harang from the other dugout?

Bases loaded with one out and Ondrusek gets out of the inning. Reds are just holding on for dear life right now.

Why does it seem like every series between the Reds and Padres at least one game goes to extras?

Gomes was freaking moving on that hit. Had no idea he could run that fast. Finish this thing off now.

Heisey picks up an insurance run for Coco, which he'll probably use up.

And 5 insurance runs should be enough for Coco. If it is not, then Smith better be in there before he gives them all away.

I know Stubbs just sent one to the moon and all, but the 2 outfielders that are playing the worst (Stubbs, Bruce) are the ones with their jobs pretty much locked up. The two guys who are killing it now (Heisey, Gomes) are being toyed with by Dusty.
That being said, both Bruce and Stubbs looked better tonight.

Speaking of bare-handed plays tonight, don't forget the double bare-handed one by winning P Ondrusek to salvage a key out after missing out on the double play that would probably have been if he never would have gotten his bare hand on it in the first place!

Defensively, you can't bench Stubbs or Bruce. Both are still young (24 and 25) and should continue to get chances. Gomes is clearly the guy who is hit or miss. Last year he was awful for every stretch outside of 7 weeks or so. For that, you have Heisey. Same with the infield. Renteria is clearly an upgrade over Cabrera, and the catching platoon is one of the top 3 in baseball. You can't forget that Fred Lewis is still on the DL, and many felt he might be the 4th OF and top pinch-hitter coming in. It's great to have options. Outside of Francisco for Lewis, this is a complete offense for now. And defense for that matter.
