With the other teams in the division having fairly week minor league systems, the reds are pretty well set to dominate this division for a while.

The brewers are going all in this year. They will lose fielder and traded Many of their best prospects to get the players to make a run this year.

The cubs are going nowhere fast. Have a decent core of players but they start losing and it spirals downward.

The cards have a terrible minor league system and who knows what will happen with Pujols. I hope they pay to keep him. It'll further cripple them.

The Astros and pirates... Well you know.

Hopefully the reds keep developing talent and we get to be spoiled for a few years!

Who on the Brewers would be starting for the Reds?

Ryan Braun? Anyone else?

Weeks would probably start at 2B with Phillips at SS...outside of that, nobody. Corey Hart would start over Jonny Gomes in LF too.

Brewers and Cardinals I think will still hang around but they'll be streaky.

Reds will be steady all year.

Brewers pitching staff (and lineup) is extremely top heavy. After Gallardo and Grienke, they aren't very good. Their relief pitching is extremely thin as well. They are pretenders.

Marcum should be above average over the long haul.

A lot depends on Greinke. He'll have to be great for them.

Went to opening night last and then Sunday's game. GABP is such a great place to see a game and this weekend was incredible! By about the 6th inning Sunday you could just see that the Brewers players were totally outmatched and looked dejected in the field. It looked like they were thinking "This isn't the way they told us it would happen".

The Reds are going to be very tough this year if they keep the same intensity they had this first series. Winning and/or tying each series they play should be their goal.

Braun in left, Stubbs in center, Bruce in right. MVP at first, Phillips at second, Weeks at short (I'm not pulling BP out of a spot where he's the better player) Rolen at third, though McGehee will hit more and is younger. Scotty is a defensive stud. Reds catchers obviously better.

Greinke and Gallardo, over the long haul, are better than anyone we have in Cincy.

Its hard to argue this but I think our sample size with Travis Wood is too small to make any statement like that. I truly think he is our best pitcher.

You might be right about Marcum. I just wasnt overly impressed. I mean, he's okay, but he is nowhere as a good as the preseason hype suggested he was

I totally agree. I've been on the Travis Wood bandwagon since the end of last year. Dude isn't flashy, but he just gets it done.

If he ever learns to control his pitch count. Can't be an ace when you only pitch 5 or 6 innings a game.

He may have the best "stuff" of the current staff (volquez may have an argument there though) but he has yet to show one measure of consistency throughout his short career thus far. Travis Wood on the other hand, despite not having the best stuff, is proving that consistently locating your pitches is the key to success.

Absolutely no doubt. As someone who has coached HS aged players for about 10 years we try to drill that into players heads that location and changing speeds is more important than velocity.

I just think that Cueto is learning and controlling his stuff better, and is truly starting to learn exactly how good he can be. He has amazing stuff and coulple years ago when Volquez was teh darling of everyone i was saing that I think JC has better stuff. I have not seen T. Wood throw a whole lot but i do love watching guys like him manage a ball game. Greg Maddux was my favorite pitcher to watch.


either way...this staff has some very good arms and should set up the reds for years to come.

When he came in i was like....I doubt he hits 100+ today. They are u by about 9 and sometimes when you are so far ahead, or behind, ya dont have that same umph as a reliever who throws that hard. When the game is close sometimes ya see a pitcher be able to hump it up there a few MPH faster....and I guess I was kinda right....if it was a close game maybe he hits 105 again!
