This could be a very special team at UNC next year. I think college basketball will be GREAT next year. A lot of good talent coming back that in most years would be going pro.

I thought CBB was great this year truthfully, at least from a competition standpoint.

Bleacher report said Harrison was back last week. I think it is all speck until we hear it from a Katz or ESPN.

Also, 2012 signee Austin Murphy has reportedly qualified to graduate early from his school in Boston. He will reportedly join the 2011 class.

Duke will have 6 frosh on campus next year
Rivers
Cook
Gbinije
Murphy
Daniels
Plumlee

I can't believe Daniels is going to go to Duke, probably only the 3rd best 3 on the team, over Kansas where he would have a starting spot from day one (one position KU is the weakest at is the 3).

By teh way, did this just come out that he's going to Duke? Last I've heard (this morning), he hadn't decided yet.

Austin Murphy?

Is he a hybrid of Austin Rivers and Alex Murphy? ;)

S&L,

I think the Dukies are just counting on him committing at this point. Last I heard, he will make a decision after he takes his visit to Durham.

Visit to Duke April 15, scheduled announcement April 15. I think it is a lock, so many have jumped on the story. Where there is smoke there is fire (at least I am hoping).

"So how will it all unfold? First DeAndre Daniels, an elite Class of 2011 small forward playing at IMG Academy in Florida, is likely to deliver his pledge to Duke and coach Mike Krzyzewski very soon. Daniels is due in Durham for a visit this weekend and is expected to commit either while on campus or a few days after the visit."

As for Murphy, the name is funny sounding. It is like something my grandmother would say when she confuses players. That Billy Hurley is a good little player (mcaffrey and hurley combined)

Duke has been short scholarships for a while
this year they would have

Point guard: Austin Rivers (combo guard), Quinn Cook, Tyler Thornton
Shooting guard: Seth Curry, Andre Dawkins
Small forward: Ryan Kelly (combo forward), DeAndre Daniels, Michael Gbinije
Power forward: Mason Plumlee, Alex Murphy (combo forward), Josh Hairston
Center: Miles Plumlee, Marshall Plumlee

That is 13

Yeah, sounds like Daniels is pretty much a done deal, just not offcial yet.

What's the situation? A relative of K's son-in-law is the coach at IMG Academy, or something like that?

What is the scholarship breakdown for next year's Duke team if those six freshmen are there?

Miles Plumlee
Mason Plumlee
Ryan Kelly
Andre Dawkins
Seth Curry
Tyler Thornton
Josh Hairston
Austin Rivers
Mike Gbinije
Quinn Cook
Marshall Plumlee
DeAndre Daniels
Alex Murphy

Edit: Thanks for the breakdown, swami.

Andy Borman, former walk on on the 2000-2002 teams.

Borman, a native of Illinois, was a walk-on guard who earned a national championship ring with the Duke Blue Devils. He’s an alum at IMG Academy and last June, Borman was named the basketball director at IMG Academy, the current residence of Daniels.

Borman, like Coach Mike Krzyzewski is a native of Illinois. Heck, it’s better than that, he’s the cousin of Jamie Spatola which makes him the nephew of Coach K.

Arizona's Derrick Williams will enter the draft and hire an agent.

FSU's Chris Singelton is also declaring, hasn't hired an agent yet, but most likely will.

If you are a Junior or have any future in the NBA, I wonder why you don't just declare without an agent...doesn't it make sense to do? It can only make you a better player. It's one of the few NCAA rules (allowing players 2 weeks to get evaluated without hurting eligibility) that makes complete and total sense.

The only drawback I could see is if a player does terrible during the workouts, it may hurt their overall stock. Of course they would have another season to prove their worth, but a bad performance may stick in the mind of the NBA scouts and GMs. Also, in most cases, the player already knows what they need to work on since their coach has already gathered feedback from NBA personnel. Going through the workouts against NBA-caliber players would be helpful, but juniors who are still undecided may just not want to take the chance of exposing weaknesses.

If they are Juniors, they are probably not terribly coveted anyway because quite frankly...they are Juniors, and would have been more valuable as a Freshman or Sophomore. If you're a Junior, and returning for a 4th year...it would make complete sense to do it regardless. For your value to be high after your Senior year, you better be incredible because you're already 22 or 23 years old and that alone knocks most guys out of the lottery, if not the first round.

As a Freshman, maybe, I could see a reason for being concerned over exposing weaknesses.

Carelton Scott of Notre Dame has declared but won't hire an agent. I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't return to ND though.

I'm hearing that Barnes will go pro. Guess his ma told his hometown paper. We'll see very shortly.
