Even though the Pirates have the 2nd most road wins in MLB, I'm not expecting much. Their record in Milwaukee lately is something like 2-28.

Can we just put the Brewers back in the American League where they belong?

Please. They're down 5-0 in the second inning today, on their way to moving to 0-5 vs. Milwaukee so far this year without looking particularly competitive in any of the games. Offense stopped performing completely and they've gone from 18-17 to (likely) being 18-22. Motherfucker...

The Brew Crew owns the Pirates. This is sad.

The Pirates schedule of something like 16 games in as many games has been lightened with a couple of postponements due to the general shitty weather in the midwest. Bizarrely, both postponed games have been on days Morton has been scheduled to start. So, this is Take Three for him tonight against the Reds, I guess. He utterly owned them earlier in the season. Hopefully he does again, as they need a win BADLY right now to end that six-game losing streak.

From WOAT to GOAT: The Charlie Morton Story — This inspirational tale just made its second screening in the Cincinnati area tonight. Lucky viewers got to watch Morton rise from the ashes of last year to repeatedly fool hitter after hitter on his way to a complete game shut-out.

Jim Leyland returns to Pittsburgh tonight for a three-game interleague series. Pitching match-up tonight is Brad Penny vs. Jeff Karstens.

Should be a fun series.

I was really thinking things were about to unravel after that Brewers series, but they must just have the Bucs number.

The Pirates have actually won every other series in the division.

I read that the Reds would have the best record in the National League if it weren't for the Pirates.

I don't hold out much hope for this Detroit series.

1.) It's at PNC Park where they haven't played well so far this year.
2.) The Pirates interleague record is horrible. (Except against the Indians)

10-1 win tonight. Detroit tied it at 1-1 in the top of the sixth, but Pittsburgh went for six in the bottom of the inning and then added three more in the eighth. Walker had a homer and five RBIs. Karstens only gave up a solo homer in six innings and Ascanio, McCutchen and Resop all got through scoreless innings (although none were routine with a combined four hits between the three.

3 in a row! They're going to tease us and get our hopes up by flirting with .500 again...and then crush us with something like a 9 game losing streak.

The flirting with .500 has commenced! After last night's win, they're now 22-23 and have followed up that six-game losing streak with a four-game winning one. If they win today, they sweep the Tigers, which would be nice considering how bad they do in interleague play against teams not named the Indians.

Oh well, back to 2 games under as the Tigers win 2-0. Looked like a no-hitter there for awhile. Can't complain about taking yet another series but a sweep would have been nice

Paul Maholm is now 1-6, I think, with a 3.6 ERA. 2010 Ross Ohlendorf sends his sympathy while rehabbing.

Evan Meek back from his rehab assignment. Moskos sent down. He was solid, but was rarely used.

Meek was pretty dominant at his AAA rehab assignment. Four shutout innings, six Ks, no walks. So hopefully, he's over whatever was making him suck early on because that would make the bullpen pretty damn dominating.

Another pitching duel. After losing two straight 2-0 games, they're down 2-1 midway through the sixth right now.

That 5-2-3 double play to end the 9th was killer. I was pretty impressed with McDonald today for you guys. Hopefully Brooks Conrad can use that HR to get him back to his clutch performances of 2010.

With Karstens pitching (and FUCKING LOSING) in relief today, does that mean that Lincoln (or Owens, although they'd have to, I think, clear a 40-man spot for him) will come up to start? I know that Lincoln has been very good recently in AAA and considering how Morton's improved after last year's tinkering with his style has been reversed, it could be a good sign for him, considering how he at least blamed his struggles in the bigs last year on his style being tinkered with.

HERP! With another day off today, the fifth starter's spot can be skipped, which is why Karstens was used yesterday. DERP!

Here's a good read for fans.

http://www.bucsdugout.com/2011/5/26/2190068/top-30-prospects-may-2011-jameson-taillon#storyjump

A May look at the team's top 30 prospects along with comments. Some names I'm very familiar with due to following minor league teams and some I'm not familiar with due to how they're not going to start playing until the half-season teams get underway.
