Normally Buford makes them, yesterday it didn't happen. Not the end of the world. Matta didn't get outcoached,he stuck to the game plan that got him to a 34-2 record...his player just didn't make shots.
See how that works?
When one player is missing shots, you can't just continue to let him shoot and say "ehh it happens" you have to go to another player...Bill Self couldn't just get a new team all of a sudden when KU wasn't hitting shit.

I just wish Ohio State's path to the final 4 would have been Kansas-esque. I can't believe what their path to the championship ended up looking like. They filled up on a lot of cupcakes and then got exposed today by a double digit seed who many thought didn't deserve to be in the tourney.

this year..I disagree...there were no dominant teams; 1 seeds lost to an 11, 8, 5, and a 4 seed...this tournament was literally a toss up between about 40 teams.

And Self did tell his team to stop shooting 3s..Reed took a contested 3 and was chewed out and pulled from the game immediately...Self's offense revolves around the post. If a player is wide open on a kickout, a 3 is okay...normally KU makes them, today they didn't; it happens. Well geeze...where the hell have I seen that written lately.

What you said was retarded...I realize you are a little cuckoo in the mind, but try to follow along....Buford was missing shot after shot; Matta should have went to someone else....the entire Kansas team was missing shots; nothing Self can do.

so we can say that Bill Self lost in consecutive years to a double digit seed, since Northern Iowa was a #9 (one away from double digits)?

Yep and everybody was ripping on Jamie Dixon and Pitt for choking to an 8 seed, the same 8 seed that almost won a National Championship last year and had been playing great basketball since early February. The other two 1 seeds lost to Arizona, the Pac-10 regular season champion, and Kentucky, the SEC tournament champion and #11 team going into the tournament. There is a HUGE difference between a 1 and 11.

When will people learn this is the new landscape of college basketball...there is ABSOLUTELY no shame in losing to a high seed from the Sweet Sixteen on.

I agree with this (sorry to everyone else, lol). Two maybe three of those teams will be in the Final Four.I didn't buy much stock in everyone last year saying that Duke didn't play anyone good on the way(I hate Duke with a passion) and I am not buying it this year that Kansas got a favorable path. Its not KU's fault and it wasn't Duke's last year. Would OSU still be playing if they were the number 1 seed in Pitt's region?SportsAndLady;726584 wrote:this year..I disagree...there were no dominant teams; 1 seeds lost to an 11, 8, 5, and a 4 seed...this tournament was literally a toss up between about 40 teams.

Kansas was considerably larger and more athletic than VCU, and they also head considerably fresher legs. Since the shots weren't falling, then he should have went inside more.

I didn't say Matta lost to a double digit seed, Siena...i said he's never lost to a double digit seed, but he did lose to a 9 seed which is close.

They did go inside...Morris twins weren't making shots inside, and were getting fouled and missing free throws.

No way. Higher seeds were 25-7 in the first round, and the lower seeds that won were 9, 10, 11, 11, 11, 12, 13. Top 5 seeds were 18-2. That isn't a toss up.
Outside of Kansas' region, the other 12 teams in the Sweet 16 were seeded 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 8, 11. UNC took advantage of an over-matched 11 seed advancing and beat them by 18.
Kansas was given a gift with 3 double digit seeds advancing, and they totally choked. They should have done the exact same thing to VCU that they did to Richmond.
