I call BS. We are supposedly a civilized society. We should not have to fear that a brawl will break in a place of business where adults take their children, be it Burger King, McDonalds, Subway, Chuckie Cheese, or whatever. Again, it's simply pathetic.

Wow just wow. You REALLY think this is about people simply "fighting". Ummm, what about people going into a business establishments and destroying them because they can't control themselves. Isn't THAT really more the issue at hand. And, to make matters worse, the fighting and the destruction of property then becomes ENTERTAINMENT for everyone around them. Geez.

And for those of you blowing these incidences off by saying this is not any new development now in our society, again, I call BS. I'd venture to say that 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago businesses such as Chuck-E-Cheese, Applebees, Burger King, wherever had nothing in their employee manuals regarding procedures to follow if a brawl breaks out at their place of business. I'll lay money on it that all of these types of businesses now have such language in their employee manuals because it is becoming such a common occurrence.

U.S. aggravated assault rates in 2009 were the lowest per 100,000 people since 1978 and most violent crime has been dropping in recent years. No stats on the percentage of assaults in Chuck-E-Cheeses could be found for this post.

Ok, so I don't mean to be an ass even though I'm probably coming off as one in this argument. But if there is an epidemic, how frequently are you involved or witness to these public brawls, and what will you do to fix it?

It's a fallacy to assume that being civilized necessarily means being more peaceful.

As long as people are self-serving, and feel justified about it, this kind of thing will always be a possibility. Or, more frankly, this will always be a possibility, because humans will always have the tendency toward serving themselves before others. Just the way we are.

O, there is a primary difference between taking care of yourself first and losing control because you didn't get what you wanted at a fast food joint? "Just the way we are?" I'm sure you don't conduct yourself in that manner and neither do I. If this type of behavior is just shrugged off what message does it send to our young people. This is not acceptable behavior and that has to be reinforced.
