I certainly don't see them getting any years of no play but certainly scholarship and recuiting sanctions could come!

I am still waiting to see how the NCAA punishes Tressel and what news comes out with this whole situation. I still think Tressel may have forwarded the e-mails and someone else covered up. Either way, it leads to OSU violations, but I think Tressel is taking one for the team here.

As this goes on, I think the odds of Tress going away keep increasing. Eventually Ohio State will probably get wind of what the punishment might be, and then they will have a choice. Tennessee figured the punishment might be a little more in their favor of they got rid of Pearl

USC doesn't have the largest alumni association or largest university in the country. USC doesn't participate in the most NCAA sanctioned sports in the country either. If it wasn't about money the NCAA would've banned these kids from the BCS game last year.

I'm not comparing the violations folks. The thought put forward was that the NCAA won't do much because OSU makes them too much money. But you people don't think USC does? They still took away schollies and did post-season ban, did they not?

USC has fans when they are good...in LA...OSU fanbase is much larger and is always buying shit.

Uh, that's not the issue here. The main problem was that Tress knew information about violations and he did not share it with Ohio State or the NCAA. Sure TP and the boys committed infractions, but those are in the past. The punishment has already been levied.

The major crackdowns occur when somebody purposefully witholds information from the NCAA. The punishment is only worse when it happens multiple times at a university

I am really starting to believe Tress is trying to take the fall and that he actually disclosed it possibly to Smith or the compliance office and they said keep it hush. I am leaning towards that theory and am even more scared the Bucks and JT will suffer at the hands of NCAA.

This. In terms of what they are looking at regarding the repeat violator thing, the amount of money or what the players did at all is not relevant. It only focuses on an institution being dishonest multiple times. To discuss any other part of it regarding this is just to create a diversion.

Now, they still may be gentle because OSU brings in money, but who knows.

I guess at this point it wouldn't surprise me if Ohio State was informed by Tress and they simply ignored his heads up.

With that being said, I find it hard to believe that Tress is taking the fall for anybody. He is the most popular man at Ohio State and we all know the football department is king. I'm not sure why Tress needs to take the fall for anybody

Honest question. How does the NCAA make more money from a 11-1 OSU than a 7-5 OSU, that is not brought in my another successful school?
