Nolan Smith
Jared Sullinger
Kemba Walker
Jimmer Fredette

Really this should not even be a question

They should just put Jimmers name on the trophy

Why? Because you say so? Just because you say so actually means it is undoubtedly in question.

I think either jimmer or smith wins it. I'm leaning toward the jimmer atm.

I'd say it's between Jimmer or Kemba, I think they're carrying their teams a lot more than the other two. They're all undoubtedly top five players, but I think Sullinger and Smith are surrounded by a lot more talent than the other two. Just my opinion.

He still had Singler who will be a lottery pick.

Yea, I like how Singler is suddenly not that good of a player, when we've been told the last few years how great he is. Jimmer and Walker are carrying their teams, Smith and Sully are playing on teams that would win alot of games without them.

I don't know how you choose.

I would have no problem whatsoever if any of the three won it...or if they had a co or tri winner.

Jimmer= deserving
Kemba= deserving
Smith= deserving

^ This. But if I needed a player for the last five minutes of a game, there's no doubt I'm taking Kemba.

This will be Jimmer. I had Smith a couple months ago, but this is Jimmers award.

I think Jimmer and Smith will split at least one of the awards. I think Jimmer wins the Naismith and Wooden and that Smith picks up, maybe, the Rupp, similar to J.J. Redick in 2005. I also think Smith wins the NABC (coaches) NPOTY award. I think the coaches, by nature, will value Smith's all-around game, especially the absolute ferociousness of Smith's defensive intensity and pressure. In addition, I believe Smith surpassed Kendall Marshall in the assists department on the last game of the season to become the first player in ACC history to lead the conference in both assists and points per game. That is remarkable and will probably help Smith in the mind of the coaches.

But Jimmer is definitely deserving. He's a modern day Pistol Pete, minus the floppy hair and behind-the-back passes. I'm not sure we've seen an offensive talent like him since Chris Jackson of LSU. People forget Jackson (I wasn't old enough to remember him, but I have tapes of old LSU-Loyola Marymount games), but as a freshman he scored 30 points per game and as a sophomore jumped the 50-point plateau four times. The Jimmer reminds me so much of him. Both smaller, dynamic point guards who can score at absolute will.

So one of the criteria for the award is carrying a team? That just means the player is the only option and quite possibly the stats are inflated.

I think Jimmer wins the award, but to discredit others because they have talented teammates is a mistake.

I don't think so. If they are required to do more and succeed that should mean more than a player who is required to do less and succeeds. That isn't to say that the player the player who did less because his team has more options wouldn't do as much as the more prolific player if he had the opportunity.

Not the Naismith, but Nolan Smith today was named the NBC Sports National Player of the Year for 2011. I suspect No. 2 will be seeing a few more of these as well before the season concludes.

Kyle Singler a lottery pick? I doubt he is a first round pick.
