He was completely wrong about why Kentucky won. He was lucky. Maybe he spiked Buford's Gatorade or something. Kentucky won the only way they could, by slowing it down and playing Wisconsin ball. Barkley was talking about their athletes running the floor right past the plodding Buckeyes like he hasn't seen them play all year, and I assume he hasn't. His analysis was absolutely wrong except for who won the game.

Right before the game Chuck said UK would win because they had the better coach, so I'd say he was pretty spot on there.

He also picked Arizona over Duke, UConn over SDSU, and Florida over BYU this week so he is impressing me. Didn't see what he predicted for the Butler/Wisky game.

Jay Wright just called out Charles Barkley for picking 'Zona to win. Barkley didn't fire back.

Up your ass, Chuck.

So did my Mom who hardly ever watches a game. She also picked VCU to win their first 2 games of the tourney and she had Butler in the Elite 8, did Charles? I guess she should have a seat in the studio also.
I like Charles but just because he picked a few winners does mean a whole lot.

Charles Barkley didn't pick Arizona to win each game of this tournament because of his immense college basketball expertise. He picked them because he played for the Phoenix Suns. On the first day of the tournament, when the guys in the studio were discussing each region, Charles splurted out of nowhere that he thought Arizona was the toughest team in the tournament. I remember saying to my friend, "You can't just pick Arizona because you played with Dan Majerle on that state's pro team." Lol.

Chuck did, however, turn out to be correct as Arizona got hot at just the right time -- up until tonight that is, and was just a single three away from having Jim Calhoun sitting next to him tomorrow. But, as much as I love Sir Charles -- I followed Barkley's career second only to Reggie Miller's in the 1990s and owned both the black and the purple No. 34 Suns jerseys -- he says things a large portion of the time just for their value of being bold and entertaining. And he usually is both.

How the hell do you know why Barkley picked Arizona over duke??

According to Charles, Zona, was the one college team he had seen multiple times. He selected Arizona on his bracket. I would assume that Charles did not expect Arizona to embarrass duke the way that they did, but he had reasons for picking Zona over duke and he was right.

“Charles called it a week ago,” Gentry said of studio analyst Charles Barkley. “He said the very first day, ‘Arizona’s going to end up playing Duke. They’ll kick Duke.’ He said that before the tournament even started.

Because I am "Go," the Phoenix Suns gorilla.

There's no need to quote Alvin Gentry. I already told you that I heard Barkley announce on the first Thursday of the tournament that he thought Arizona was the toughest team in the whole tournament, and that my hunch was he said it because he played for the Phoenix Suns and lived in Arizona for years. Had Barkley spent most of his career as a Seattle Sonic and lived in Seattle, I would be willing to bet his big pick would have been Washington over North Carolina. Call it a conjecture, if you like.

His humor is starting to grow on me. He still doesn't make a bit of damn sense most of the time though.

He's definitely hilarious, and I think the fact that he doesn't make sense a lot of the time is probably why he's so hilarious. I think Barkley often says things with the intent of being absurd, for the same reason that a person such as Norm MacDonald says them. Absurd humor is funny.
