I don't know who thought Michigan would be a pushover, seeing how they played against Tennessee you could tell they were a confident group. If they thought this, then they are delusional. I worried about this game the moment brackets were released. The tricky 1-3-1 defense and their ability to spread the floor is something Duke would struggle with. I feared Beilein's WVU groups in the early 2000's for the same reason. They are terribly difficult to prepare for a short term tournament scenario.

Duke got all they wanted, and was tested from the tip. The first half shooting by Michigan was amazing. 5-9 from three, many of those contested. I figured Duke would hedge high screens in the second half and force two point attempts. They only got a handful of stops down the stretch but they were big ones. Glad Duke was able to advance, they should feel very lucky. I feel much more confident moving on now that Michigan is in the rearview mirror. Michigan totally took us out of our game. If they were a league team and we played them a bit more I think the Devils would have faired better, however like I said, with little prep this was a nightmare. Novak killed us in Ann Arbor 3 years ago, this game looked a great deal like that one for most of the day.

Arizona, San Diego State, and Uconn are all teams I feel much better about than Michigan (strangely). Another week of practice with Irving will help as well. When I look back at this game I see a major positive, Duke won despite getting total crap performances by Singler, Miles Plumlee, Mason Plumlee, and Seth Curry. Never dreamt they would be able to advance if that happened.

No hating. I honestly pay very small attention to Ohio State basketball. I was simply pointing out how ridiculous it is to compare the blowout of a not 100% George Mason to winning by two over Michigan as if beating George Mason by that much meant you would also beat Michigan by that much. This is George Mason we're talking about, not the Pearl Monroe Bullets. Or even the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan is a fierce team, much better then I gave them credit for. A 30-point win over Tennessee is evidence enough.

Just because the teams that are at the top now aren't the ones that were there when your pappy should have been pulling on a buckskin rubber doesn't mean the conference is a shell of what it once was retard.
