Justice would be a very public firing over the person who is responsible for the death of an innocent 20 year old kid. I think that man is Brian Kelly, but it could be someone else.

I don't the University investigation turns out anything, funny how that works.

Of course you think its Brian Kelly because that's what you want it to be because you have some odd obsession with Notre Dame. If this was at any other university you wouldn't even have an opinion on it.

You don't think the investigation will find anything? That investigation won't be made public in any way unless someone is fired or resigns.

Wow, you Domers are DELUSIONAL.

LOL, glad you both are concerned citizens.

You don't think I would be all over any university that showed this kind of negligence that killed a kid? I'm not a Notre Dame hater. I don't post on Notre Dame threads.

The plantiffs in criminal cases are "the people", not "the victim". Every case has to do with us. The negligence shown in this case clearly crosses into the criminal realm, IMO.

for God's sake, it was an accident--you don't think BK feels horrible about it? I understand where everyone on here is coming from, but it's over--Declan Sullivan has left this earth due to a horrific, freak accident, and OSHA handed out it's penalty. I can't speak for the family of Mr. Sullivan, but I'm sure they'll try and find closure through their faith and family.

Just because OSHA finds a fault doesn't mean jack shit. OSHA also charged my company I work for 25000 dollars because we had pallets standing up on it's side instead of being flat on the ground. I agree this is a terrible accident but to fire Brian Kelly because of this is ridiculous. And lj and sleeper Stfu. If this wasn't nd you would even care don't give me the " im so concerned in this case" bullshit. You are just nd haters so gtfo

LJ;714207 wrote:Who the hell are YOU?! I think that is the question. I am someone concerned that a person is in charge of others that directly caused a person's death.

I think this is where the thinking that Kelly is responsible and needs to be fired is a little off. The direct cause of Declan Sullivan's death was high winds that knocked over the scissor lift. Now you can argue that Kelly was the INDIRECT cause of his death because he decided to have practice outside that day. But the only way that Brian Kelly could be the direct cause of the death would be if he was standing at the bottom of the lift and shaking it until it fell over.

I think there are a lot of people that can be blamed for the INDIRECT causing of a person's death. Should all of those people be forced to resign or get the ax? As Tobias said, if Declan's family said that would help them bring closure, then I might reconsider my stance. But based on what I've read, I feel that there is not one specific person responsible for Declan's death, and therefore...I don't think anyone should be fired or step down.
