I was recently informed that my application for the Ohio Veterans Bonus Program was approved. I served in Iraq in 2007. Being the fiscal conservative I am, I don't think I'd feel right keeping the money (and I don't need it, I am doing well financially speaking). I have decided to donate it to a worthy charity. The question is, which one? I was leaning towards a charity that helps the families of fallen veterans. Does anyone have any suggestions or any other charities that may they have donated to?

Over 7 million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since our inception.

Plus they don't have very high administrative fees which I like, their frequently asked questions page says overall it's about 2-3% which is pretty low.


There's so many good charities though it's really about finding one that you identify with because that'll be the one that you feel best giving to.

What about the charity the golf outing was supposed to be for, Pregoria?

Also, http://www.christianaidministries.org/ these are a bunch of Amish from Holmes county that go to place like New Oreleans after the hurricane and Hati ect and build some quality shelters for people. You dollar would go far here.

Yeah, I guess you could do one of the sponsorships for the golf outing. That'd help the Progeria people. Hell, you could do your sponsorship in the name of another charity so that they get a little publicity out of it.

Charity: Water is one of the best charities out there right now as far as transparency and administrative costs go. They pay for their administration costs with money from a group of private donors. 100% of your donation will go to the actual building of water wells in less privileged areas of the world. Might I suggest looking for charities or causes that currently have a dollar-for-dollar matching grant going on right now. Most likely, that would make the most of your own contribution.
