Congrats to Ursuline and Mooney . . . . what great, great programs.

I only wish UHS had one more shot at Mooney, what a game that was!

Technically the information is right.

Austintown, Boardman, and Liberty are not incorporated cities, they are townships. They all have Youngstown ZIP's (except Austintown). Are they part of the Youngstown City Schools? No. But are they schools that are considered to be located in Youngstown due to the mailing addresses of the suburbs? Yes.

ts, you may be as technical as you want to be and consider those schools to be located in Youngstown...........the fact is that none of them are and never have been.:)

BTW...you also get a great education at those two schools. Sounds good to me.
^^^^This!

And here I thought that God ordained Catholic boys to be great football players. lol

In an earlier post, Tank2Nasty actually wrote: "There is no yellow bricks in Steubenville." After reading this sentence and watching the Mooney game, I have come upon two conclusions:

1. They do not teach English in Steubenville
2. 5>1 (Tank is gonna struggle with this one!)

Uh, Tank . . . your latest reply is a run-on sentence . . . and "go eat a sandwich . . . ?"

You are one of the reasons why Steubenville gets such a bum rap.

Good night. Have a warm glass of milk and maybe cuddle up with a BOOK!

Whatever you do, DO NOT watch a reply of the latest Beg Red-Mooney game . . . it will give you some NASTY nightmares . . . !

If someone from out of town looks those schools up, that's what they're going to see. There's a reason that the OHSAA lists the city of these schools as "Youngstown".

Being originally from Salem I know what you are saying, but that doesn't make it 100% true (and will never be until they incorporate).

There's a reason people from those schools go to Mooney and Ursuline, and it is because for all intents and purposes it is the same city/metropolitan area.

If you lived in the city of Youngstown, I don't care if you were Jewish or worshipped the sun god Ra, you would send your kids to Mooney or Ursuline rather than the city schools. There are things going on at those city schools that doesn't even get reported that would scare the hell out of people.

if that is the case then why is ursline D-5 and mooney D-3? on the other board i see all this nonsense how the catholic schools in youngstown are in financial difficulties. arent the city high schools in academic emergency? thus the state will pick up the tuition for any of the city school students to attend a private school.

Congrats to Mooney & UHS on their latest championship trophies.

Mooney44,

I talked to a contractor recently that worked @ the new Ytown East high school building & he told me that there is 1" bullet proof glass in the administration offices. I would re-mortgage my house to send my kids to Mooney over the city schools in Ytown. I lived there for 11 years & they offer nothing for the most part. I feel sorry for the parents & kids that really do care but are stuck in that situation.

I think many parents just don't care enough to take advantage. Some of course do, and have. But many do not.

I think it has more to do with financial constraints than caring. Most parents can't afford to help their children pay for college, let alone pay comparable tuition for high school when there is an alternative that is free.
