Justin, I've been doing it for like 18 months, but have only purchased the actual coffee beans twice (Dave Asprey's Upgraded Coffee). Otherwise, I've just tried to find the best sourced coffee I can, and test those out to see what they do. As far as the recipe, it calls for grass fed unsalted butter and MCT oil. Other people use Coconut oil, but I've found that the NOW MCT Oil (on Amazon) works well and is very high quality. Basically, I'd say this:
12 ounces of coffee (whatever kind you want)
2-3 TBSP of grass fed unsalted butter (I buy unsalted Kerrygold in bulk from Trader Joe's as they usually have 2/$5)
1-2 TBSP of MCT oil (NOW MCT Oil)
I also throw in a little Stevia (Sweet Leaf is the brand I use)
The important step is to put it in a blender and blend it, immediately pouring it into a 16-24 ounce cup/mug. Without the blender, it's basically a waste as you don't get the latte-like and frothy texture if you hand mix it.
Dr Kno, I lost a decent amount of weight about 5 years ago, but hadn't really discovered Paleo or even just eating higher quality food. It wasn't as much of a weight loss thing, but a way to feel great and eliminate many of the typical irritants people complain of. Health-wise, I never get sick. I'm able to really slack on the typical "cleanliness" things without any issues. Things like washing hair, washing hands, brushing teeth, dry skin, acne, sunburn and even things like being prone to bug bites. Not nearly as important, if not unneeded. I mean, people avoided things like gum disease and cavities forever without any modern preventatives.
For instance, I do oil pulling (swishing MCT/coconut oil for 20 minutes and spitting it out) everyday and might brush my teeth and floss once or twice a week. Absolutely zero dental problems if you don't eat things that cause problems to begin with. Hair washing, I don't use shampoo. I'll do a combo of baking soda and apple cider vinegar once or twice a week. No dandruff or any scalp issues. Again, not putting crap into your body and compounding it by using a chemical solution topically everyday does wonders.
Those aren't necessarily the "diet" things you were probably asking about, but that took me about 2 years to really figure out and reduce all cravings for refined sweets, sugar, fried things in toxic oils, etc. It really can be that long to become very healthy in the gut and with digestion. Now that I'm there, it's an absolute breeze to just make it a way of life.
