I was the same way. I ate out ALL the time. That changed real quick once I moved to NY. You can't get a lunch worth a damn for less than $10-12 here...shit adds up.

You just gotta get in the routine. I eat the same shit 80% of the time. This is when I'm being strict. I can't do this year round or I'd lose my mind.... It's boring, but effective. A grocery store and outdoor produce market are on my way home so I stop there 3-4 times a week. That helps. I also have cheat meals, sometimes days, which makes them even better after eating the same stuff over and over. I like to go 10-14 days 100% clean..then go fucking wild on a Sunday. It is glorious.

My lunch is rather boring. It's usually romaine, can of white tuna or chicken, chopped boiled egg, sliced walnuts, light dressing. Then an apple and some cottage cheese/greek yogurt. Sometimes I'll cook chicken ahead of time and put it in, but that's rare. I work w/ a ton of foodies, they think I'm fucking weird. I just make the salad at work in a huge steel bowl and inhale it military style. That's it for the most part, when I go out its either Chipotle, Quizno, or I hit up a deli for a much better $10 salad.

I take it on your clean days, you do not drink.

For the most part no. Maybe once a week to every other week...if that. There is a good article that addresses alcohol on the leangains.com. I never really account for it though.

The cheese cake was pretty solid. Nothing mindblowing, but good. I used large curd cottage cheese, which was a bit off putting, but I'll change it up next time.

I just got the My Fitness Pal app up and running. I've been using the Livestrong MyPlate tracker for a while now and thought I'd change it up.

Anyone using this?

At first glance it seems to be better than MyPlate.

I enjoy it. Started using it January 2nd and have used it everyday since. I love it, makes me accountable of what I'm eating and easily allows me to track my macros. Since using it (5 weeks) I have kept my body weight the same and all my lifts have increased. So that means I'm losing fat and adding muscle, while probably in a bit of a calorie deficit. Don't know how long I'll be able to keep that up but I'll take it for now.

I was using MyFitnessPal and had a streak of 3 years straight logging into it every day...then I just stopped. It's actually very helpful.

I noticed you were gone, haha.

I use MFP and really like it, especially now that I can scan bar codes and log food that way. It's very simple.

That's why I made the switch....the larger food library and able to scan barcodes.

I'm CLukas1 if anyone cares.

Yeah, it seems like the simplest one to use.

Part of the reason I stopped is that eating paleo is kind of "self regulating."

If you have a really specific goal or are a very numbers-oriented person, tracking is a good idea. I'm personally a data freak. I have about 3 consecutive years of food logs, training data, thousands of blood sugar readings, bloodwork tracking, supplementation tracking, etc. Much of it is useless to anyone but myself, but it is helpful to go back and correlate things over the long-term.

For the short-term, like BR said, most stuff, probably 90%, will regulate itself if you manage your food, stress, sleep, training, etc...based on how you feel. Adjust that based on your goals/aspirations.

FUUUU BR!! I'm about to make my 3rd cheesecake since you gave me that recipe.

I've also been reading about 5-3-1 and thinking about starting it up. I pretty much stick to the simple lifts anyway, but I don't follow any set program.

5-3-1 is a helluva program. Wendler knows his chit. You'll go quite awhile before you need a re-set on your weights.

What do you mean by reset? I'm debating on whether I should get the book or just go from what I find online.

I need to give it a few more weeks in the gym before I get serious about it. I need to gauge where I'm at in regards to weights.

You will be able to move up in weights every workout for a VERY long time on this program. Only after you max out on it (not hitting the prescribed reps) do you have to re-set your percentages & weights.

I had 5-3-1 in a downloaded e-book but can't find it. Otherwise I'd forward it to you.

I need to figure out a way to sub deadlifts. I still do them, but I'm having issues in my trap...pinched nerve or something. I have no clue, but it's frustrating as hell. I get a sharp pain at the top of every lift.

On another random note. I've recently started doing Bulgarian split squats with dumbbells. First time I've ever done these and holy shit....I got absolutely dominated. I was feeling it all over the next morning.

Never tried Insanity Core or Power before since I was doing the P90X weight training and then subbing in Insanity Plyo and Pure Cardio for the cardio days. Interesting workout, much different than the P90X Core. Tonya is still an anoying bitch.

TDEE, whats everyone thoughts on this? I think its a great tool to let you know roughly how much calories you are actually burning in a given day.

I don't have plantar fasciitis so I went old school and did P90X Plyo today. Was a nice change of pace from Insanity.</SPAN>

They're actually not bad. And I didn't even use the honey or the flour. So I'm sure they could have been better.

Sweet potatoes are insane. I've been on quite the obsessive kick lately. We're talking 3-4 a day...
