Irizzarry didn't have a TD in the playoffs, right? -- it was his last HS game. No shame in giving him the ball. He's been a cornerstone for three years. Look at those gaudy numbers the MAC teams put up all season long. Ursuline hasn't cracked 60 against an opponent in years, but I see that all the time in regular season numbers elsewhere. You might as well complain we didn't sub out at the beginning of the 4th quarter. It was a championship game against one of the best teams of the decade. You play hard until the end.

I thought the Cardiac Cavs were just setting Ursuline up before they came roaring back like their known to do. But, it just wasn't to be this time....Congrats to my second favorite team in Ohio, Coldwater. Great season.

Wow, does Ursuline have some tiny, tiny players out there in that secondary, but they know how to play....Ursuline was just too fast and to shifty for the Cavs. Their D just couldn't seem to get a grip on those slippery Irish boys.

The two turnovers hurt CW too. Can't give Ursuline anything or they'll make you pay.....Ursuline didn't have an answer for the CW pass early on, but capitalized on some turnovers and had some firepower of their own....

How old is the CW QB and what schools are after him??? He showed amazing poise in the pocket and made some boss throws....I was really impressed with him. He put the ball on the money on those out routes from the other hash and made some money deep throws.....

I think he's a senior and committed to Ball State. I agree, he is really good.

Congrats to the Irish and especially my boys from Girard. I especially enjoyed the little Happy Dance by #4 on the sideline near the end of the game! I know how hard he worked for this and his family is extremely proud of him, and his father!

D2 would be hard-pressed to compete with them. If they are so good, which they are, don't get me wrong, wouldn't they want to be playing against the top big schools in Ohio and not the po-dunk small town farm villages?
I'm no fan of private schools. Two of the players at Ursuline played jr high at my local school and we would have really liked to have have had both of them with us this year. If we did, we may have been playing this afternoon as well. BUT, there are a lot of private schools in Ohio. How many have been to the finals in the last ten years? Ursuline and Mooney have been there three times each in the the last four years. They have built a program that attracts good players. "If you build it, they will come." I do thnk they have an advantage in how they build their team, but they get it done every year. And keep in mind, they do get beat by public schools. Both have lost in the title game to a couple pretty good ones.

I too,was appalled by Ursuline's last score---if that's the "parochial Christian" thing to do,I'm proud to be a Catholic from the public system----I guess we'll just take the higher ground, turn the other cheek and move on.

Hmmmm, Mention that to coach Kelly of the Cincinnati Bearcats.
You wanna rethink that now? Seems Pitt is running over, around and through Cinci's porous defense!!

Went to the game yesterday, that Wenning kid is awsome! He has the complete package for a QB: size, GREAT arm, great feet, good speed, strength. I can't believe this kid isn't going somewhere bigger.

Congrats to the Irish on their victory and State Championship. Jones was a beast and his running style is very reminiscent of M Clarrett prior to his transgressions.

Great Season for the Cavaliers. keep your heads held high. Wenning was awesome and we will likely see some good things from him in the future at Ball State.

From my view there were a couple of no calls that should have gone Coldwaters way as well. I wondered why the back judge didn't call the interference in the east end and the side judge had to throw the flag. It was clearly interference.

In 2007, Wenning was the back up QB as a Soph to the Junior Klenke. When a Coldwater Receiver went down to injury, they used Wenning on two plays which lead to Coldwater Points.

First the flea flicker, Klenke hand off to Harlamert who pitched to Wenning who hit the Receiver outside the right hash who then outran the DBs for an 80 yard Td.

Then Wenning caught a backward pass then hit Harlamert down the seam for a long gain to the one yrd line.

Wenning backed up Klenke again last year.

One could only imagine what he would have done as a 2 or 3 year starter. A great player and good luck to him at the next level.

That's right. I knew I'd heard that name in the '07 game. Wow what a comeback that was.....

Ursuline had some calls go their way...the whistle on the muffed punt cost CW 20 yards. A blatant hold that spun a blitzing CW defender 180 degrees right in front of the QB. Would've been a sack and possible fumble for allwe know as the QB was just about to let it fly. That was the most blatant missed call I saw all day yesterday.

Yeah, I'd say if Wenning was a 2 or 3 year started (which he should have been based on what I saw last year, no disrespect to the kid before him) he'd be going somewhere much bigger than Ball State.

So letting a kid score a TD in a State Championship game is un-Christian

Get a life

If you really took the higher ground, you would have kept your mouth shut, and not typed the post.
