Here's the thing though, whatever it is that he did, he knew it was wrong. I would assume they have to sign something or at least have this Honor Code read to them at some point, so he knew what "rule" he was breaking. So in that, I don't blame the university/bball program. But if it was something as dumb as drinking coffee, than a big ole F you goes out to BYU.

It is going to be he slept with a girl/got a girl pregnant. I'd put some serious money on that. They have other disciplinary type systems for things like your facial hair and your beard.

That depends on who you are. If you're the black guy from Reading Rainbow, no. If you're Terry Nichols, yes.

As for the BYU code. LOL.

From the BYU Code (revision in italics): "Visitors of the opposite sex are permitted in living rooms and kitchens but not in the bedrooms in off-campus living units. The fucking is much better on the fold-out davenports in the living room anyway.

The whole things is about five good minutes of laughter, so I highly encourage that everyone at least entertain the idea of reading the BYU Codes.

Also the thread title should be reworded. The lunatics have most likely completely kicked him out of the University. Basketball is the least of his worries if you break their little 'code'.

I wonder how often that shit is broken? I mean, on one hand you sign up to go there, so you probably dont have intentions to break the code, or you have discipline up the ass and enjoy the lifestyle etc. On the other hand, your a fucking human being. You gotta do the damn thing every once in awhile.

And thats just sexual part of the Code. When I get the time Ill read the rest. I cant imagine people actually would agree to someone telling me I cant have caffeine.

They are not permitted to engage in sexual conduct there, let alone get her pregnant. Drinking alchohol would also get you dismissed.

Right or wrong, every student signs this honor code when they enroll. So they are aware of the consequences.

It is 100% legal. Homosexuality is not a protected class.

A little off topic, but there used to be a girl who worked in the office of my employer who was a graduate of BYU. One of the single most hottest women I have ever laid eyes on in person. She was a 10+. Had I not been married I would have converted to LDS just to bang her one time, she was that hot.

As a private college they have the right to come up with these rules. Most seem strict to us, but when you sign up to go there, you know the rules. You have to either play by them, or be good at hiding your behavior.

Rules like BYU's are nothing new. Other religious affiliated schools have similar rules. Nobody is telling these athletes that they "have" to go to these schools.

Anyone who thinks their code is illegal or unconstitutional doesn't know a thing about law.

Even the NBA has a code of conduct that athletes have to follow -- and celebrities sign contracts every day that have "morals" clauses in them.

All of this is perfectly legal because nobody is forcing you to participate.

Ben Rothlisberger would have been expelled by just about every university in the country for his bad behavior, and those schools would have been well within their rights to do so. It's also why the NFL has the right to suspend him for however many games they deem appropriate for acting badly and sullying the NFL's "good" name (had to put that in " because I was giggling as I wrote it).

The honor code is perfectly legal. The Constitution doesn't follow you everywhere. You surrender your rights on a daily basis. There are other schools you can attend if you don't want to conform with the honor code. Before you ask...yes I am fairly well versed in Con. Law.

Don't the service academies have strict codes of conduct?

I am not so sure about this. While his behavior was abhorrent, he was never charged with a crime , was he?

Yes. They sure do!! These are all codes of conduct students sign before entering. Therefore, I dont have any sympathy for them.

Even though it seems ridiculous, they all knew before hand!!

doesn't every college have a code of conduct though? If I signed something acknowledging I did, I sure didn't read it. I would assume thats the case for most people.

I'm pretty sure Harvey Unga, BYU's alltime leading rusher, left school for having premarital sex two years ago. He plays for the Bears now.

BYU feeling the loss of Davies tonight? Down 15 in the first half to New Mexico.
