This kid needs to change his tampon. He gets his ass kicked on the block out drill and then his 85 year old coach steals the ball from him. The wussification of America continues. Hopefully a judge with throw any lawsuit out of court.

Did the coach go a little overboard? Sure, but he apologized. Time to move on.

The coach is full of shit. A person can't say it was an accident, apologize, and then say that he didn't cross a line.

But I also think this is being blown up too much.

I'll agree that he didn't kick the guy but rather nudged.

But to say he didn't cross a line is wrong. From what I can tell with that drill is it's a 1 on 1 drill. The coach jumped in immediately with aggressive physical action and caused an injury. That's crossing the line. Now if the coach was the other player in the drill than it'd be different as the coach and athlete were both participating.

The kid is a bitch, he quit the team and wouldnt take a that apology that i am sure was hard for that coach to give on live TV.

I agree. This stuff happened regularly back in the day. These days everything gets blown out of proportion because of cell cameras and youtube.

Coach resigned this morning according to ESPN. Not that what he did was right, but the wussification of kids with their mommies backing them up continues.

how many bloody noses or cut lips did they inflict on "your teams"? the coach is an asshole--he went Seagal on the kid, then he cried about it (talk about wussification), and then he quit-- fuck him!!!

I personally thank all of my coaches for kicking my ass and kicking the shit out of me and verbally abusing me. I also thank my parents for doing the same. They put me in adverse situations and I had two choices, come back stronger or quit. I also realize they were doing it because they loved me and wanted me to do well. I'm sure some of this stuff still goes on, but when you are the coach at a school named Holy Family, I'd say they frown upon that stuff.

If these kids would tone out the coach when he is calling you an asshole, everything would be fine. But when he's telling you why you are an asshole, now you listen.

Beating the shit out of you in the context of drills is one thing, the difference in this situation being that this was an out of control outburst by this moron and not part of said drill...the end result might have been the same (bloodied nose & lip), but it'd be more plausible to justify.

btw, how does a CC coach "lace it up and beat the shit out of you" anyway? :p
