So making it to the 3rd round and being tied with the eventual champs in the second half before losing is not competing?
Sorry, beating A #!3 seed and Texas A&M in OT isn't competing with top teams.

As for duke, they survived a poor shooting night because Purdue didn't have firepower to take advantage. The Boilers were pounded on the boards and never in a position to win the game. They played their asses off, but didn't have enough without Hummel.

You didn't say top teams you said good teams, and Sienna and A&M were certainly good teams last year. You can also make up any excuse you want but the fact is Purdue played with the best team in the country into the second half. Georgetown won't need to beat great teams the first weekend and at the very latest Wright should be back by the second weekend of the tourney.

As for this thread, looks like Marquette is off the bubble for now. A road win against UConn to go with home wins over WV, Cuse, and ND should be enough. They will be the favorite in each of their last 3 games and probably need 2 wins.

I guess it depends on your definition of good.A&M lost 10 games and Sienna didn't beat anybody with any type of pedigree.
but the fact is Purdue played with the best team in the country into the second half.
Yet, they were never in a position to win the game.

BE might be getting 11 as it stands right now (Pitt, ND, Nova, Georgetown, Louisville, UCONN, Syracuse, St. John's, UC, Marquette and WVU). I heard Jerry Palm say as much on the radio this morning and he is usually spot on. There are going to be some "Power Six" conferences with really light participation in this tournament (namely the PAC10 and the ACC). incidentally, Palm projected 5 to 7 B10 teams for the tournament. depending on how things shook out to end the season and in conference tournament play.

You got to stop flip flopping dude, you originally said compete with good teams. Not be in position to beat the best team in the country with 10 seconds left.

Are you going to try to go the first round game if it's in Cleveland?

^^ If the Cats are in Cleveland, I am going to try and go. The wife and I are expecting a baby in April, so I have been easing in the idea with the wife with the hopes she lets me go (she's cool with sports, but obviously basketball is not her #1 priority right now). Let me know if you're going Dave, maybe we can meet up.

Same here, we will try to go. I'm thinking they can slide up to a 6 or 7 seed though and Cleveland won't be an option (Cleveland gets 2 8vs9 games).

St. John's has had the same line-up essentially a few years. ND just lost Luke Harangody and Tory Jackson and wasn't projected to do anything

ST. John's has had the same lineup but now the coaching is different. If COY isn't Dixon than it is Lavin to win (since it obviously won't be JW)

I don't see any Big East team making the elite 8, much less winning a National Championship. Maybe Pitt, if they get into the Duke/BYU/SDSU bracket.

Who do see in the elite 8 sleeper? I don't think 8 Big Ten teams are getting in. Maybe it should just be a 3 team field. Purude/Wisconsin with the winner earning the honor and privilege of playing Ohio State for the title?

OSU
Wisconsin
Purdue
Kansas
Texas
Arizona
BYU
Florida
Maybe Pitt/SDSU/Duke(someone's gotta make it in a weak bracket)

Arizona had a good trip to LA. Lost to a not good USC team and lost a squeaker to UCLA last night.

The Pac-10 is a tough conference.

Louisville has a white out going on. Pitino is in the all white suit and didn't change at half. Cardinals up 7 with 15 minutes to go.

Brey deserves COY. Sorry, ND had the lowest expectations of the bunch that are in consideration and will lock up a 2nd place finish at worst with a win tomorrow

Louisville cheerleader got T'd up. Ville went up 5 after dunk, 2 FT's plus a desperation heave could have sent it into double OT. Why couldn't that have happened?

They are waxing Nova tonight. I'm going to go out on a huge limb and say that Villanova won't be ranked next week. They are in full free fall mode.

How can teams have career nights from behind the arc against them night after night???????? This is freaking embarassment. Hated Hansborough's brother and feel the same about his one. Believe they are trying to run it up to 100 on them.
