Why doesnt this stuff happen in the NFL? Peyton Manning is arguably the greatest QB in the history of the NFL. There was never talk that he had to go to NY to take his status to the next level. You never hear about Tom Brady and Larry Fitz talking in the offseason about teaming up or guys demanding a trade to a certain team/ city because its a "better" place to live
lhslep134;686946 wrote:You're wrong.
In order to get Carmelo after the season, the Knicks would have to release Chandler anyways. That would have left Landry Fields, 'Melo, and Gallinari to play 1 or 2 positions. The Knicks decided Fields was more valuable. And Mozgov? I'm sure the Knicks can find a replacement, considering the dude wasn't even on the team last year.
So basically the trade now becomes 'Melo and Billups for Felton, Gallinari, Mozgov (who IMO is very replaceable maybe not at this time, but definitely moving forward) and draft picks (only 1 of which is a 1st). Considering the Knicks are heavy favorites to get Chris Paul, I don't see a problem in a Billups/Felton exchange for 1.5 seasons.
Don't see where the Knicks gave up their entire young core, especially when they couldn't have all been on the team next year anyways. Great trade for NY.
COA, I will concede your point they need to find a center before they can win anything, but I strongly disagree about what they gave up.

thedynasty1998;686976 wrote:What is the fascination with centers in the NBA today? The Knicks want to play up and down, so they can make teams adjust to them. Put Amare at center and make a guy like Kenrick Perkins guard him.
I agree that eventually the Knicks will need more size, but let's look at the competition in the east right now:
Miami - no center
Boston - Kendrick Perkins. He isn't going to beat anyone.
Chicago - Noah - Not a big concern
Orlando - obviously causes problems to more teams than just the Knicks
Atlanta - Horford
There really is not cause for concern, at this time.
Midstate01;686982 wrote:That's all dependent on the knicks getting a team into their style of play though. If the celts got the game slower, Perkins would eat Amare alive.
I see what you're saying though and don't think they have to freak out and go looking for a center. This league has very few dominate big men anyway.
