I just don't want to see them lose their 1 seed or opening rounds in Cleveland.

If the above post is in reference to Duke's two losses coming to "garbage teams," then come on. Stop it.ytownfootball wrote:Say what you want, but this has validity. Do you go to Ohio State sleeper?
St. John's is proving to be a very good basketball team (wins over Pitt, Georgetown, Duke, Notre Dame, Connecticut, Cincy, Marquette, etc.) and will be in the NCAA Tournament. Florida State is also an NCAA team at this point, and if/when Singleton returns, will also be a dangerous team. The Seminoles are one of the nation's most efficient defensive teams, and Duke lost to them on the road.
As for sleeper, as I said before, there are cups of orange juice with more intellect.

A little tongue in cheek but OSU did beat FSU ON THE ROAD so ranking Duke ahead of them would be a little what have you done for me lately more than anything.

Yes, but SJ may be ranked, and he left that out saying they are an unranked team.

Texas has already lost 3-4 games, but you can take out Hamilton or Thompson and they would probably still be where they are now, maybe a loss or two more. Kansas, you can take off anyone on their roster, they would still be where they are now. They are so deep, they can afford to lose some players, and they already have with Selby missing the first 9 games of the season and a few games of late via injuries. OSU I think would have the biggest issue with an injury, because they really only go 6 or 7 deep. But I still think they would be a top 10 team if they lost Sullinger or anyone else in their starting lineup.
Look at Purdue, they lost Hummel and are in the top 10.

I want to know how Irving became the best player after his injury. When pre-injury all I heard was Smith and Singler.

Irving was averaging 17 points and 5 assists a game. If he wasn't the best, he was a top three point guard in the country. A complete game-changer. When he comes back in the next two weeks, the rest of the country will begin to see just how good Duke was before he left the court.

ccrunner,
I thought you wanted Seth Curry to run the point. Before the season started, you wanted nothing to do with Irving running the show right out of the gate. Then you told us all how right you were about Curry after the Carolina game. Now Irving is the best player on the team?
Seriously, though, Irving is definitely one of the best PGs in the nation. However, Duke's best player is Nolan Smith, and it's not even close.
rec,
Is Irving definitely coming back?

San Diego State's best win?...only have 1 fewer loss. I can see them above Texas and maybe Pitt...but not Duke, Kansas or OSU

They need an excuse for when they flop out in the sweet 16 like they always do.

They won the national title last year you fucking idiot. How do they flop out in the sweet 16 like they always do when they accomplished what the rest of us all tried to do?

As with anything in life -- except for maybe Karl Hess being a self-absorbed son of a bitch -- nothing is a guarantee. However, from what I am hearing/reading between the lines, both from Duke people who are generally "in the know" and interviews with staff, things are progressing better than anyone anticipated to this point. Many in Blue Devil nation are thinking a return by Carolina, if not before. I stress thinking, but I am actually very optimistic at this point that Duke will have Irving on the floor in the next 10 to 13 days.ironman02 wrote:rec,

If there is one thing I am certain about, it is this: If Kyrie is indeed coming back, he will be playing in Chapel Hill.

I hope Duke doesn't rush Irving back, because the Cavs will need him at 100% next season.

I'm just glad you appreciate our floor general's talents so much. That's a really comforting thing to read from a Tar Heel (or is it a Buckeye, at least for 2010 to 2011ish?hoops23 wrote:I hope Duke doesn't rush Irving back, because the Cavs will need him at 100% next season.
From my angle of things, I would think you would be hoping Irving gets as generous a taste of victory as he can while still in Durham so that he can bring some of it with him to Akron North. Shawn Kemp isn't walking through that door. Then again, why would you want him to? You're already fucked
