I think as long as Reardon stays, Ursuline should be really tough again next year. If Reardon bolts for Harding, Ursuline will struggle a bit.

Also, in before any whiner makes a comment about a "recruiting class."

Readon says he's staying @ UHS, so the Irish will fine.

So if Reardon gets the Harding job, he is still staying at Ursuline?

I thought Reardon just said that he isn't going to Middletown. Unless he's taken his name out of consideration at Harding, I wouldn't say that he's definitely staying at Ursuline.

Last I heard, as of mid-week, he did not apply to WGH despite rumors on the other site.. Hearing Angle from Howland is at or near the top of the list for that job.

Ursuline's schedule is brutal:
In no particular order: Mooney, Akron SVSM, Mentor, Mentor Lake Catholic, Canton McKinley, Lakewood St. Edward's, and a prep school from PA. Still have 2 bye's last I heard.

Why will UHS struggle if Reardon "bolts", would he be taking kids with him?

And the comment about "recruiting class", feeling a little guilty?

THIS....Is EXACTLY why this whole system is a joke, the fact that a division V team can play a schedule like this. Oh, you guys are making my head hurt, actually talking about it like this is a normal situation, A Div. V school....Playing Mighty St. Ed, Canton McKinley, and Mentor....who has over a thousand boys. They, (ursuline) play this schedule....And this doesn't raise red flags to ANYONE? Let's get real here people.

1.) No...Reardon is just a good coach. It would be similar to when Bucci stepped down at Mooney and Fecko took over. It takes awhile for a new coach to adjust and the players to adjust to him.

2.) No...I just know the M.O. of a lot of people on here (mainly you) who love to play that card first.

This is actually a good thing, its kind of like if two guys, (we'll call them Harry Mooney & Lloyd Ursuline), rob a bank, Harry Mooney plays it somewhat cool, and makes a few big purchases, but doesn't get too carried away. Lloyd Ursuline on the other hand, just can't handle the recent riches he has....we'll just say accumulated, goes out and buys a $500,000 home, a new Ferrari and a summer home, in the south of France. Pretty soon, the police, (the OHSAA in this case), albeit as Barney Fifish as they have been, catch on. Lloyd Ursuline makes a respectful living, but nothing that would explain a new home, a summer home, and a Ferrari. Now, even though Harry Mooney played it smart, Barney Fife knows that Harry Mooney and Lloyd Ursuline hang out together, and after a few hints and suggestions by Andy, (Andy will be played by the public school coaches in this story), Barney makes the arrest, and its off the Prison in Mt. Pilot for BOTH of them. (Prison in Mt. Pilot will represent seperate playoffs in this story).

The most recent enrollment figures look like this:

Youngstown Ursuline 173 boys
St. Edward 663 boys (496 difference)
McKinley 689 boys (516 difference)
Mentor 1059 boys (886 difference)

Keep making those "big purchases" Lloyd.

If they have that much money they should buy a lesson from a guy (let's call him Tony Tiger). He could teach them that you could use that much money to offer jobs to the parents of star players from all over the country and bring them to their schools.

Hey rocket, you explain to me how a Div. V school can compete with a schedule like this without "advantages". Again....Mentor 1,059 boys-Ursuline 173, if this doesn't prove what a sham this whole situation is nothing does. Putz? Is that part of your religion? Namecalling? Nice Catholic boy.

I'm not trying to say this and that about Parochial schools. But if you can have a schedule similar to division 2 and 1 you have no right being in division 5. Its a shame. the Division 5 playoffs last year was a highway robbery. No way did any actual div 5 team have a shot to win. it makes me sick. and there is no way you can justify playing div 2 and 1 schedule and play div 5 teams in the playoffs. the state should have took care of this years ago. there was a few years when kids stayed home and represented there teams. and that's when Mooney Ursuline didn't fair well in the playoffs The 80's to mid 90's. so my guess a free ride to school a nice clean text books and a nice new trophy 6 times in a decade help them get back to the top.

HAHAHAHA!!! Mooney didn't fair well in the playoffs in the 80s and 90s?! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

1980 - D2 State Champions
1981 - D2 State Semi-Finalist
1982 - D2 State Champions
1985 - D2 State Runner-Up
1987 - D2 State Champions
1988 - D3 Regional Finalist
1990 - D3 State Semi-Finalist
1995 - D4 Regional Finalist
1996 - D4 State Semi-Finalist
1999 - D4 State Semi-Finalist

I can't speak for Ursuline...but Mooney did not have any problems in the 80s and 90s. So my guess is you just don't know what the hell you're talking about.

They get credit for scheduling them, they strap up their chin straps, and play another tough team the next week

Without complaint
