For myself, I used to belong to a union - AFL-CIO. I know firsthand that they can hurt you just as much as they ever could help you. The union(s) tend to cut their nose off to spite their own faces too many times. I have many family members who were/are in the UAW. Even so I will tell you that its the uaw in the last decade that has drove GM and Chrysler and nearly Ford into the ground. I am anti-union as a whole, and I am conservative. However, I can understand how/why private unions exist and accept that they have the right to bargain with a private company that choose to use thier labor. I am totally against Public unions because it's just not logical to have them. You shouldn't be able to negotiate any kind of wage/benefit with polititians that your union dues help to elect, and the money agreed to pay for these negotiations is coming from someone other than the one negotiating (which in lamens terms means the taxpayer, not the polititian that's agreeing to the the deal).
