Yeah he obviously knew he got it at the plate, and it wasn't the typical wall scraping GABP home run. Maybe he was still dazed from having that ball whiz by his head.

Al Travers gave up 24 runs for the Tigers in protesting of a game in 1912...only game he ever pitched.

Brian McCann just pretty much won a game by himself for the Braves. Hit a 1-2, 2 out pinch hit solo HR in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game, then hit a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the 11th. Not a bad days work.

Yanks trying to avoid a 7-game losing streak tonight in Tampa. I wonder when the last time that happened was?

Nevermind, found it: April 20-27, 2007.

Yah I was watching it still scratching my head why Houston pulled Rodriguez. He had a 5 hit shutout going and was really dominating the Braves hitters. Good win for McCann though.

113 pitches.

Although when your bullpen is 5/15 in save opportunities coming in to the game, you probably should run your starter out for the 9th...

In my eyes who cares if he had 113. If your under 120 let him try to get the 9th completed. To many people care about the number of pitches.

In one of the strangest plays I have ever witnessed, and will probably never see again, Iglesias (Boston) was forced out at home by a throw from left field by Dirks (Detroit). A 7-2 Fielders Choice, force out.

Bases loaded, no outs. Infield in, outfield in but not left because of the short wall in Boston. Jed Lowrie up to bat. After about 78 foul balls, he bloops one and it falls maybe 10 feet into the outfield grass. But because Dirks was playing normal defense and Peralta was playing in, neither could get to it. Iglesias had to hold at third (coulve been a little farther off base though) and when it fell, Dirks picked ip up and fired home for the force out.

Of course, Crawford with the walk-off single in the next at bat. But still an amazingly awesome and rare play lol.

I just scored tickets through work for next Tuesdays game vs Toronto.

I've never been to Yankee Stadium, hell never even been to the Bronx yet.

Any pointers on a bar to grab a few before the game?

I literally pay 0 attention to the AL lol I don't know why really...just a huge Reds/NL Central fan, the Yanks and Sox play in the AL and usually garner all the attention to the point it gets annoying, I don't like the no pitcher thing, etc etc etc etc etc

Random facts... There are only 3 teams in baseball right now that have a winning percentage above .565. That's pretty incredibly low. The AL East usually has that many alone at this point in the season. 18 teams are at or below .500, and 11 teams are within 2 games of .500 on either the positive or negative (or exact) side.

Oh, and San Francisco is leading the NL West with a run differential of -2 on the year.

Weird season to this point.

Omar Vizquel...in his limited role....batting .340.....look 32 years old....is not

He's gonna get to 3,000 hits by staying in incredible shape......and I imagine needing the most at bats to get there.

At bats to get to 3,000 hits:

Dave Winfield.....about 10,500
Craig Biggio.......about 10,600
Rickey Henderson and Cal Ripken....about 10,750

Omar Vizquel......if he gets there he'll be somewhere near 10,900 at bats

I used to say if you get to 10,000 at bats.....you're going into the HOF....with all of the astericks and stuff not anymore....but the longevity game has to be figured in.....no one would have Omar if he couldn't do things the team wanted.

The Rockies had THREE blown saves last night in Milwaukee. The Brewers hit game tying homers in the 8th and 13th innings, and Prince Fielder hit a walk off in the 14th.

Red Sox win their 7th in a row and now just a half game out of the AL East lead. 22-10 since starting the season 2-10. I think this is the team everyone talked about coming into the year - that said, they need Lackey or Dice K to provide quality starts when they return from the DL, and they still need that team BA to creep higher (they're hitting .263 as a team this year, hit .268 last year and hit .270 in 2009 with arguably a less potent lineup, on paper).

Jose Bautista hit 2 more HR today.

Now has 18 HR and hitting .364.....I know everyone discredits a new star for potential cheating.... But it can't go much longer without this guy getting some serious attention.

I mean he only hit .260 last year. 50+ HR and 120+ RBIs is insane, but I don't think he's been the best player in baseball over the last year. This year, for sure. But not last year.

I want to believe in Bautista, but I can't. He was a light hitting utility man, and now he is 50+ HR guy who can hit for average? Nah sorry

They still can't test for certain PEDs (HGH cough cough)
