I'm a huge Arcade Fire fan. I have seen them live already and will see them again in a few weeks.
That was not definitely not what Arcade Fire is, that "Month of May" performance was abhorrent. The album, "The Suburbs," is very good, and that was just terrible all around. The song is solid normally, but the lighting and the dudes on the bikes are just out of place and I choose to believe that that was not their doing. Month of May is never, ever played like that. The microphones on the drums were just terrible, although I respect the pick of an upbeat song for them.
If that was my first glimpse of Arcade Fire, I'd hate them too. My roommates and I sat there in disbelief, literally pissed at what was shown. Terrible, just terrible.
This is their normal, rather unassuming, setup on stage:

For Fuck sakes Wildcats. Once again I said the same thing to Sugartitz right after it happened...We think too much alike. Next thing you know your gonna say you have a man crush on Mantooth too...yes I told The Wife that confession earlier tonight.wildcats20;677572 wrote:Here's the thing...
They had to have known they won. You don't have a band/group/artist perform, for the 2nd time, after they just LOST.

A lot of people might know Skylar Grey (the girl who sang with Em and Dre) from this Fort Minor song back in 2006, when she went by Holly Brook.

She's had a lot of big breaks lately with I'm Coming Home, I Need a Doctor, and Lupe's new Words I Never Said, but she had some really good songs back as Holly Brook.
Saturdays was a good one to unwind to, even if it makes me look soft.

Huge Arcade Fire fan, seen them a few times and they're amazing...but i think it is funny that they won for this album, considering it isn't their best. Whatever.

Haha the grammys are a joke. I don't even listen to Lady Gaga and yet I know most of the songs on her CD as does most of this country...yet Arcade Fire wins? And also how does a jazz chick beat Drake or Justin Bieber who were some of the biggest stars of the year? It's like if Stephen Curry got hurt and Davidson won the national title that year

Do you think The Suburbs is better than Neon Bible? I think their first album, Funeral, is their best album thus far. The Suburbs is still a great album though, in fact they've done a great job of having different sounds with each album while still having their own sound as a band.cbus4life;677643 wrote:Huge Arcade Fire fan, seen them a few times and they're amazing...but i think it is funny that they won for this album, considering it isn't their best. Arcade Fire's The Suburbs hit #1 in the United States. Just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they don't have a massive following. You never hear them on the radio because they aren't signed to a major label. You have heard them on commercials though, I guarantee it. Whenever you hear a neat little sound on a commercial (typically on a car commercial), it's an Indie band.Classyposter58;677645 wrote:Haha the grammys are a joke. Arcade Fire used to be an underground band that would pack smaller (read: normal) venues:

Now they're a band as popular as any in the world, headlining Lollapalooza:
Oh, plus they made Canada's TIME cover. Not a small feat:

Yeah I think it's kind of funny when people get pissed about lesser known artists winning. Just because they aren't as popular doesn't mean they aren't better. Since when does how many albums you sell dictate how talented you are? People on here were bitching about Bieber (and also about Drake) but then get angry when someone they don't know wins instead of them. Same with album of the year.

Mumford and Sons should have won best new artist. They are awesome. The biggest crime of the night was Jamey Johnson not winning country album of the year. That double CD is extremely good. It should have been up for Album of the Year too.

Mumford and Sons are amazing.
At Lollapalooza, Mumford and Sons put on the best show I had ever seen. After that I went to see Frightened Rabbit, which put on a show that was also incredible, but not quite as good as Mumford's. Then, after passing up The National to see Arcade Fire more closely, they made Mumford and FR look like a retarded children's choir. I'm serious. If you ever get the chance to see Arcade Fire live, do it. I'm going again to see Arcade Fire and The National in Chicago in April. It's going to be one memorable night.
