Well, Riders1 showed what kind of memory I have left! Yep, it was East Liverpool Christian. Haven't heard a thing about them since.

from what I've been able to figure out online, it looks like East Liverpool Christian school (ELCS)either merged with---or became---what is now American Spirit Acadamy-ELCS (ASA-ELCS). Interestingly, from looking at the basketball schedule that is posted online, ASA-ELCS is one of the schools that East Richland Christian (ERC) has played this year. twice in fact. ERC LOST to ASA-ELCS by 23 points early in the season. Played them again later and actually beat them by 1! (They were scheduled to play again---yes a 3rd time---on Jan 26, but that was cancelled by weather couldn't find any record of a makeup game being played).
So, basically, at best, it appears East Richland Christian is very comparable to the team Hiland beat by 60+ 4 years ago. Thus, my fears from earlier post.
I'm guessing some of the JV players brought up for tournaments might be seeing a lot of time in this game. (Heck, one could end up being high scorer!)

Well, glad to see ELC lives on. I don't feel good about mistreating Christians. I thought Joel Gause and co destroyed an entire school's basketball program in one sectional game!

they maybe didn't destroy the program, but at least forced them to go underground and change their name! Let's hope east Richland can at least hold on to their name.
I hope I'm pleasntly surprised and this can at least be somewhat of a game. It's not a pleasant stuation for either team when your basically matching lions and Christians. Especially when the Christians are the foes!

Shadyside's girls (currently undefeated with one regular season game remaining) beat East Richland Christian 93-12 in the opening of the sectional last night... Not saying that means anything, but...

The game lasted a hair over an hour. The refs did a great job with the mismatch. The 2nd half Hiland just past it around the perimeter and chucked up the occasional 3 ball. They played the hand they were dealt well. I hope East Richland Christian does not walk away from their first experience with a top level OHSAA team discouraged. I hope they hang in there and we see some improvement next year.

It was apparent Hiland has been keeping Gerber under wraps through the regular season. Now that tourny time is here, I guess the secret is out.

I was watching the end of Florida/Kentucky til about 6:15PM. I told my wife that I was going to turn on the radio and check the score, and I said, "I'll predict it will be 22-2". I put KLM on the Bose stereo and just as it came on they said "that bucket makes it 20-0 in favor of the Hawks." I'm psychic. OK, well, maybe "psycho" is a better word.
I tuned back in for the half score and it was like 46-2. When I heard it ended 78-14 I thought that Mark had gone beyond good sportsmanship, he had displayed pure mercy.

Hiland got outscored in the 4th quarter to keep it from being a rout. I guess Hiland just wore down.

now it gets tuff, no more easy games.............think I'll make the trip down 77 tonight.........really havn't been tested since when Garaway 2 or Malvern 2 don't remember who was last, that is a concern.
saw Rosecrans at the game last night, they better not look past the best coach in the IVC and his Hornet's in anticipation to a Hiland matchup come Saturday........I know they're coach won't but those boys might........

^^ that's a good point. Easy for the Rosecrans boys to ---maybe unintentionally---not take this game as serious as it needs to be taken. I'm sure they--like Hiland---have heard " RosecransHiland " in the same sentence over and over all year
