Has anyone else had problems with firefox? I've been running Win7 for a while, and I know about the flash issues Firefox has had but the last month or two I've seen an increase in crashes and also experiencing times where it completely locks up (even when not running flash) and I can't do anything but reboot (even ctrl-alt-delete doesn't bring up the task killer).
So are others having this problem or do I maybe have some conflicting apps or perhaps should look at a clean install of Win7?
I tried Chrome, but I guess I have to spend some time in figuring out how to set-up to suit my needs. I see now where the tools/options menu is (had to search for it) so maybe that's what I need.

Haven't had that happen once, and all I use is FireFox.
Hope you don't have a bug.

I'm going to guess it has to do with some of your add-ons.

Only add-ons I have enabled are Better JTV, Java console, and VShare. I'll try ditching Better TV and VShare, because this has been a problem even thru multiple Firefox updates. I doubt I have a bug, have things locked up pretty tight and scan regularly.
Was just wondering if this is a Win7 problem or if maybe my virus/adware apps are causing the problem.

Real-time I have Comodo (firewall and AV) and Ad-aware. I also have Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes.O-Trap;672138 wrote:What malware protection do you have?
Same stuff I was running on Vista before with no issues, but like I said on Win7 now.

It has locked up on me several times on ultimate-guitar.com. Only on that site though.

I know Ad-Aware sometimes reacts poorly with other anti-malware suites. Plus, with what you've got, there's nothing Ad-Aware really provides with any proficiency that you can't get from everything else you have.
I'd remove that and see what happens.
Plus, if you're running that many, it might be bogging down your virtual memory (which could also be affected by the Vista/7 difference).
I would recommend grabbing something like CCleaner. Helps keep your machine running efficiently.
Plus, if you can swing it, I also recommend TuneUp Utilities. Will speed up your machine as well.
CCleaner is free. TuneUp isn't.

Good tip....Been ages, going back to my last computer, that Ad-Aware found anything and it takes forever to scan. That will be the next to go. Spybot is nice with the live list of blocked mallicious sites they maintain that can auto-update your browser. Alright have CCleaner, thanks.

Seriously I'd just use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's the most satisfied I've ever been with a anti-virus/malware program.

Best thing Microsoft has ever put out.

Microsoft Security Essentials causes problems on my computer with Cisco NAC Agent...for some reason.
I have avast! now, and it's pretty good.
I did like Microsoft Security Essentials when I had it though.

Gut - I've experienced the exact same type problem with my Firefox.

Another problem I just recently started having in the last month is sometimes Firefox launches and for some reason it's offline. It's not my internet connection, I go to message boards and it appears to be cached, no updates, and then on occasion I'll get an offline message.
Guess I'll try Chrome. Don't really like the bookmarks folder off to the right corner, or that it shows a bookmark or two (recent) in the task bar.

I made the move to Chrome, and I'll never go back to IE or Firefox.
It does take a little in getting used to, but it's pretty easy to navigate. You can add bookmarks across the whole browser, so it's fine by me.

I'll play around. Adding bookmarks across the browser is the way to go. I guess that's really all that I need to get used to, that and the tabs/adding a tab are located in a different spot than I'm used to.OSH;672979 wrote:I made the move to Chrome, and I'll never go back to IE or Firefox.

Google Chrome has supplanted Mozilla FireFox for me (and I was a BIG FireFox user).

How do you set it to clear history and/or cookies on exit? I hate manually doing that. I suppose I could always schedule CCleaner to run daily or on start-up.Scarlet_Buckeye;673086 wrote:Google Chrome has supplanted Mozilla FireFox for me (and I was a BIG FireFox user).

I have never tried to clear history/cookies on exit. I can't tell you that one.
I am sure there's a way, I just haven't done it.

Click on the wrench icon on the far right... then click on the Under the Hood tab... then click on the Content settings button under the Privacy section, and then simply go thru the features and check/uncheck the desired boxes.
Hope that helps.

Ehhh, thanks. Doesn't give me the ability to exclude certain sites and looks like Chrome doesn't yet have autoclear history on exit. I suppose they'll have it eventually.Scarlet_Buckeye;673314 wrote:Click on the wrench icon on the far right... then click on the Under the Hood tab... then click on the Content settings button under the Privacy section, and then simply go thru the features and check/uncheck the desired boxes.

Ah, you got CCleaner? Good stuff. I use it daily to get rid of wastes of memory and to find and fix problems. It might be my favorite program, outside of XSitePro2.

So here's the latest update.
I usually have Mozilla Thunderbird open, and wondering if that might be the cause. I was going to play a game here in the arcade, had it open ready to play, went and deleted an email in Thunderbird and my computer locked-up again.
My Thunderbird of course grabs my gmail and a few other things. Had a goofy thing happen a week ago where I deleted a couple emails and it sent everything in my inbox to the trash. Maybe time to switch back to Outlook.
