Just wondering if anyone has tried it out and their opinions? How would you compare the positives and negative to traditional weight training?

I haven't been able to workout since August. I should be able to start back in about a month and I'm exploring gyms in my area. There is a new CrossFit facility really close to my apartment and I'm tempted to try it out. I've usually just stuck with normal weight training and cardio and never tried anything that dealt with being in a class. I think the presence of a trainer would motivate me even more.

Its $125/month for 8 sessions. 6 people per session and they have very flexible times throughout the week. $175 month for unlimited sessions.

I was thinking try it out for 2 months and go from there. It's rather expensive so if I join up I don't want to regret it and despise going there so I'm trying to read up as much as possible.

My other option is New York Sports Clubs...they are everywhere in the city, most are really nice and from my brief experience, $75/month....always full of "talent."

My sister and her husband are crossfit members; the way they talk about it makes it sound like a cult (j/k). But they are really into it and have gained a lot from it. My personal opinion is that if you are dedicated you can get just a good workout at a regular gym on your own for a lot less (I pay $19.99/month), but if it works for you then great.

My wife does this. She pays nothing. You get a deck of cards with workouts. You can pick your own and do your own for no cost whatsoever.

She pays nothing to do CrossFit.

There's a deck of "CrossFit" cards that you can have to travel. My wife and a player of mine do the workout cards together that are within a CrossFit workout. It isn't essentially the same as CrossFit classes, it's just the workouts that makeup the CrossFit workouts.
