No you didn't. You gave up to 100%

All the other times you thought you gave 100%, you really gave about 90%, making your 100% effort feel like 110% because you lied to yourself about how hard you worked.

How about you get off your lazy ass and stop overselling yourself.

It's hyperbole to emphasize a point. People do this all the time, I don't think its a big deal.

To emphasize you tried your hardest? Why can't 100% be good enough? Did you give 110%? Nah, man, I gave 125%

Do you ever say "That was an amazing piece of pizza, or that was the best weekend of my life, etc..?

That is hyperbole. There's nothing wrong with it.

My friend works a job where he gives 140% daily. He hits 140% of his production goals.

So yes, it is possible.

Nobody can give more than 100% effort.........production goals may be shattered or exceeded but he is beating projections/budget numbers..........it happens with numbers all the time everywhere..........

That just means his effort and ability is higher than the average. He still didn't give over 100% of his own ability.

Are they his goals or someone else's goals that they've set for him and possibly others? I love projects where others do about 75% quality/production...because I can give about 35%, double their production, look real fucking good and drink most of the day.

Both. Everyone has goals set for them based on their personal production averages. He found this out when he started and has been slowly ramping it up, rofl. It gets set at what management thinks is 100% effort. He basically dicks around all day and makes it look like he is killing it and working his ass off or giving "110%"

I think he's asking does he get paid for doing more than the average. If so, you sandbag until the paycheck prior to going on vacation.

Eh...I just know I used to try really hard and bury people workwise and feel good about it. Then, when I realized that it doesn't mean more money...but it does mean they expect more...just not worth it. Some things are good for resumes, but not sure why anyone who is actually good in a job that doesn't differentiate with rewards, would want to play against himself. I mean, why is the expectation of your dude greater than the same job for the same money if the company happens to hire a dipshit? Just sayin, he should think about, um, not overdoing it when it isn't a two way street.
