By the amount of commercial that brag about this. I truly believe they think they are just rockin our world as consumers by offering this deal.

Tom "Hey Joe, did you hear about Geico insurance?"

Joe "Yeah, but how much is a quote?"

Tome "How much? It's free!"

Joe "Wow, really!?"

I got a scavenger hunt for ya. Find an insurance company that DOESNT offer a free quote. I might just give them my business.

Do any of these car insurance companies actually claim others aren't free? I don't believe they do, so what is wrong with commercials saying they are free?

Hey, it's a free quote! They say it like you are really saving there. I do believe 20-30 years ago quotes weren't always free. I just find it annoying.

There's a ton of dumb fucks out there.

If you don't put that the quote is free, those dumb asses probably would never call because they think it's going to cost them something.

Yeah its one of those perks they say to reel people in. Yes, just about every other insurance company gives a free quote (was not always the case) What happens in any business is that someone gives a benefit and all the competitors are forced to follow suit to stay competitive. If Company A offered a free quote and everyone else charged, everyone would be going to Company A. Therefore, something like this because standard of every reputable carrier in the industry.

Another thing you hear in these car insurance commericals is 24/7 claims service. Two points. First of all they all have 24/7 claims service now, for the same reason as listed above. However, with most of these companies, the actual adjusters who handle claims work standard hours like 8-5 M-F What you get after hours are customer service reps who are able to take loss info, answer some basic questions, etc. until the actual claims staff (and person responsible for your file) comes back in the next day. Most companies now require some of their adjusters to work their desk on a weekend as well...

(Mrs. Little Danny is a claims adjuster for a very large insurance carrier).

A lot of dumb fucks also buy state minimum limits. You think 12.5/25/7.5 is enough to pay for someone's property damage or injury.

There are a lot of people out there who simply could care less about whether they have adequate coverage. All they care about is passing the legal requirement. Most of them never sit back and think that those limits are not enough to cover some other guy's damage if they cause bodily harm. Of course, most also think they will never cause an accident. It doesn't take a lot to cause $7500 in property damage any more or to rack up a >$12,500 BI claim.
