I married into a terrible financial situation with my wife that lead us to file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy last June.

Here is my situation...
I am in need of a vehicle. I am looking at a several smaller style trucks in the $4000 range. I am having a hell of a time finding the best way to obtain a loan. I called and asked the lawyer but they weren't much help, telling me that they couldn't recommend anyone and that they weren't sure how most of their clients got loans for vehicles. I did file the necessary papers with the courts to allow me to get the loan. I contacted my bank (credit union) and they wouldn't loan me the money. I do have the cash to pay for it, but that would greatly deplete my savings (remember, we recently filed bankruptcy).

This is a situation that I never imagined myself in. I don't need lectured on how taking out a loan is how I got in this situation in the first place. I have always been more than responsible with my side of it. My wife was in over her head before I met her.

If anyone has any advice/suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Where are you from? Ive never used them but I know some ppl that bought from them. You will have a much higher interest and I dont believe you can be late on a single payment.

Agreed. It seems like a lot of dealerships promise that they can finance anyone...no matter how bad your credit is. I would try a normal dealer before one of these bad credit specialty places.

Bankruptcy isn't the end of the world. In fact a year from now you probably won't have any problems finding financing albeit a hefty interest rate. Have patience and keep looking for a lender. Someone out there will be willing to finance and I agree...avoid the bad credit dealer scams.

I thought he said he was out of options. His loans were being denied everywhere? I suggested them as a last resort. If he can get a loan at a regular dealership, Id never recommend Byrider.

No clue on how to help you out, but I have a guy that works for me and he has some sort of device in his car where if he doesn't make his payment his engine won't start. He has to pay his bill every month and call in to get some code to reprogram his car.

Never knew things like that existed, however, he is in a bad financial situation and I'm assuming he went some crazy route to end up with what he has.

Have you looked at a Buy Here, Pay Here? They aren't normally too bad.

Best advice would have been to date her until her finances were better. Marry her when her credit rating approached your own?

Explore other transportation options? Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to get around without a car, its just takes more work. What is the purpose of the car? How far away do you live from work/stores?

JD Byrider is an ok option for someone is your situation. My dad owned A buy here pay here lot for like 30 years his terms were always half down plus tax and titles then 50 bucks a week or 100 bucks biweekly. Im sure there are other car lots out there like my dads was. Also you might be able find a carlot the uses cac (a loan company) they have high interest rates (lower then riders though) and approve pretty much anyone. I would also advise you to wait about 3-4 months if you can because used cars are values more at thsi time of the year then anytime because everyone uses their tax refund checks. Im being serious when i tell you the cost goes up like 33% this time of the year. I know my dad hated even trying to find cars to sell this time of the year and his inventory was always at its lowest points startng in Feb.
