Serious question, because I have beenout of the loop lately. What Is all this talk of Stoops about? Has either side announced anything at all? Stoops has one of the best contracts in all of sports, so I am not sure why he would want to leave Oklahoma for any school, including ND.

I personally think Stoops isn't ruling out ND, but I think he is making it a little mysterious to see if ND gives him an offer, if OU will match it. I think he will give OU the opportunity to match it and I don't see why they wouldn't.redfalcon wrote: Serious question, because I have beenout of the loop lately. It really is difficult to see Stoops leaving a big time program like OU, even with the recent struggles in the big games; however, I'm not saying he won't go to ND. Stranger things have happened.

For the Notre Dame fans what do you think about Turner Gill?
Not suggesting he is in the running just asking what you think about him as a coach.

After listening to Swarbrick on Monday, I don't think he has the credentials of experience at a D-1 program ND is looking for.newarkcatholicfan wrote: For the Notre Dame fans what do you think about Turner Gill?

This the last shot for the Irish to get it right, IMO. If they don't they will end up being relugated to the history books of college football, and it could be along time before they'll have the opportunity to write some new history. The talent is there, they just need a capable HC who can put the right assistants in place. I'm sure they're looking at every aspect of every candidate before they make their choice.BCSbunk wrote:Maybe, but ESPN before the Oregon/OSU game stated that Notre Dame hired a consulting firm to search for a coach.rock_knutne wrote:Hmmmmm, let's see, maybe that search firm does more than just search for candidates?BCSbunk wrote: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4707485
I find it interesting that Notre Dame would consult with a search firm if it is done deal with Stoops?
I am interested in the rationalizations of this event.I'm sure this firm is conducting extensive background checks and verifying all different kinds of information that goes in to something like this. I'm sure Jack Swarbrick remembers the whole George O'Leary fiasco.
Also, Swarbrick says himself that there's not as many candidates for job as is being reported, which leads me to believe that the firm they hired is doing a hell of alot more than searching.

The funny thing with all of these Buckeye fans ripping on Lou Holtz:
Lou Holtz's winning percentage at Notre Dame: 76.52%
Woody Hayes' winning percentage at Ohio State: 76.09%
Both are two of the greatest coaching in the history of college football, yet one is spoken of on here like God and the other is ridiculed for having a lisp and being a fervid Notre Dame fan. Can you blame him? And don't you think ESPN knew they were getting that, and actually want it because it drives up ratings and causes everyone to talk about it?

Lou Holtz can blow me. Jack off.
Edit: I'm a Minnesota fan. He left our program with two years of probation when he bolted for the Domers.

Was any of Mr. Hayes teams ever in trouble like Minnesota was when he left?

It's pretty common knowledge that Lou had no problem ignoring NCAA rules when it suited him. Minnesota is living testament to that.
And if I was a Minnesota fan, I'd feel the same way.
Then again, I still loathe and despise Minnie to this day for the mauling in Minneapolis back in 1972, so what do I know?
