Had two of the apfelwein's I made a while back last night. I hadn't had one in a while. They are getting MUCH better with age.

Has anyone had White Rajeh from The Brew Kettle? I think I'm obsessed with the stuff. Probably the best Ohio beer out there.

I had that a few weeks back. Very rich and good. Last week, had a sixer of Three Frogs IPA. Washed off the stench of work quite nicely.

Sorry I haven't gone through all 30 pages, but yes I'm serious. That stuff is awesome. I wish they'd make it in bombers.

No biggie Mooney. Just having fun. Here's my take on it from a few pages back...and the 'beg' below is short for 'begin' or long for 'be' maybe.
Curly J;1095908 wrote:Going through a sixer of White Rajah from the Brew Kettle for Stongsville Oh. Very nice IPA (West Coast style). I've had this at a Beer Fest once and heard others talk of it, but never broke down and bought it. Hoppy yet well balanced with not too much bitterness. At just under 7% this is a nice session IPA. I will beg drinking more of this in the future...and A LOT !!!

I know it is out in Louisiana but I have not seen it around here. I usually can find most Abita beers at Andersons.

Question:

I just poured a Stegmaier's White Ale which is a wheat ale and there are pieces of something (I believe they look like wheat hulls) floating in it. Is this normal?

Check the label. If its unfiltered then ya its entirely possible, and semi normal.

I drink a lot of unfiltered wheat (Boulevard), what I'll do is lightly swirl the bottle as a drink it. Not sure if it is proper or not, but it gives a consistent taste throughout the bottle. </SPAN></SPAN>

I love Boulevard wheat. Loved it before I even knew what craft beer was. I wish I could get it in my neck of the woods.

I enjoyed the wheat beer. Then switched to a Magic Hat Howl Black Lager. I am a fan of stout, but didn't like this at all.

That's because Howl Black Lager is a Schwarzbier, not a Stout.

Drinking Monks Cafe Flemish Sour Ale now, had 3 left over from a 4 pack I bought over a year ago. Was really craving something different and a sour beer sounded good. Thinking about putting another one in the fridge.

They sell it in Indiana, I thought you would be not too far from there.

About 15-20 minutes away. At my old job I was in Indiana 3-5 days a week. I'll have to venture over there soon as you can get Three Floyds too.

Had Moinette Blond a Belgian Strong Pale Ale on tap. I thought it was pretty good, very complex, but not deserving of the high rating. (given a 100 by the bros.)

Is Anderson's in the gay district? It's probably not, which is why I've never seen it.

Why the hate for The Anderson's? Where else can you find a Three Floyds bomber, a filet mignon, a garage door, A Milwaukee Sawzall, a yellow birch tree, and a freshly cooked Tony Packo&#8217;s double dog with the sauce?</SPAN></SPAN>

I buy 75%-80% of my hard to get beers at The Anderson's in Maumee.

Has anyone seen Three Floyds' Dreadnaught in Ohio lately? I see a lot of Three Floyds but no Dreadnaught.

Actually I heard that they actually pulled out of Ohio because they couldn't meet demand and anything thats on sale now is just remaining stock. Not sure if its true or not.

I would recommend Marinos, although you have to be careful of the freshness with a lot of their stuff. Also check out the Beer and Wine cave on Heatherdowns and talk to Matt, he can hook you up with stuff.

Dark is not a flavor, just like cold is not a flavor. It's understandable being that they are both dark, but they in two different beer families. (Lager/Ale). Heck even dark ales taste different. (Stout vs Black IPA...love them both)
